Transcript of Proud ant and equally proud grasshopper
... waiting please
... this is the fable of two friends
one takes life the way it comesthe other fights against all odds
and emerges a
Hero
the two friends are ...
ant and the grasshopper
grasshopper spends the warm summer months singing and dancing while the ant works hard to store up food for the winter
when winter arrives, the grasshopper finds that while he has nothing to eat and keep himself warm
the ant has plenty to eat and keep himself warm, throughout the winter
the grasshopper approaches the ant for help and cooperation
the ant is not moved by the poor condition of the grasshopper and rebukes, telling him to dance and sing in the winter as well.
as a
result!
the poor grasshopper dies out in the cold as he had no food or shelter
We call it
win-loose situation
moral of the story ???
never have an attitude of indifference
towards those in need
Poor grasshopper diesbecause of the
indifferent attitude of the ant
moved by the death of his friend,
the ant promises himself
to help those in need
considering the unfortunate death of his friend last winter, and remembering his promise
this winter when the grasshopper
approaches the ant for food,
he not only gives him food
but also invites him
to share his shelter
morale of the story ???
be consideratetowards the others
the grasshopper being bigger in appetite and size
consumes most of the food and occupies most of the shelter
as a result!the ant remains hungry
and faces lot of discomfort throughout the winter
however!
despite allthe ant has a feeling of
fulfillment!
the ant tries to teach
the virtues of hard work to the grasshopper
but!the grasshopper takes the ant
negatively
So!
instead of being
thankful!
the grasshopper is full of
envy and revenge
he has also realized that
he can not do hard work
moreover he has to
beg food and shelter
from the ant
which he does not want to ...
so unless he does something
drastic!
he will always have to
begfrom ant
so, next winter the grasshopper decides to play
overly smart
and teach the ant
a lesson for life
next winter
the shivering Grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know “why the Ant should allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving”?
using the shivering grasshopper, an NGO calls another press conference (of course in a hotel) and demands to know why the ant should allowed to be warm and fed, while the grasshopper is starving.
media instantly provides us live feed of shivering grasshopper, followed by visuals of the ant seated comfortably in his home
worse still the ant is seen having plenty of food
the whole country is stunned by this
stark contrast
national news channels show up; to provide pictures of the shivering Grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food
one NGO activist stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house.
another NGO goes on fast along with other Grasshoppers
The Internet is flooded with online petitions seeking support to the Grasshopper
the ant left to fend for himself and ridiculed
for being a
disciplinarian
gets
disheartened and depressed
due to blurred visionthe ant now sees merit in leading an
undisciplined life
and teaches the next generation of ants to adopt a new role model
the grasshopper
Or flee to some other nation where their
virtues are valued
few ants migrate to US and sets up multi-billion dollar companies in
Silicon Valley
this is what we call
brain drain
moral of the Story ???
those with lesser degree of moral commitment
succumb to pressures of the life
It is always easier to flee the battle ground and hail your self as
angles of peace
which incidentally
most of us do!
it is just a natural way of life all of us want a life of
least resistance
but that is not like our
hero!
on the other hand
grasshopper
the beneficiary of this skewed economic policy - continues to vote governments that provide subsidiaries and doles
... and governments continue to subsidize grasshopper for its electoral fortunes.
butdespite subsidiaries and doles
1000s of Grasshoppers
still die of starvation
we call it a
loose-loose situation
unfortunately!!!
after more than
six decades of freedom
INDIA is still a
developing nation…!!!
moral of the story is ???
lack of discipline &
commitment
may be a short term gain for few of us but most certainly all of us are
losers in the long-term
NO!the story does not end
here!
the ant our
herodecides ...
neither
to give up
nor to
flee
insteadthe ant our hero determines
to fight
against all odds
to beat the
indiscipline and
appeasement
the ant decides to
work ten times as hardas he was doing earlier
he also educates the fellow antsabout the virtues of
hard worksand
persistence
persuaded by our hero antthe fellow ants
have a renewed faith in
hard work & discipline
in due course of time ...
the ants rise way above the

moral of the story ???
your attitudeeyour altitude
st m nireed
the entire globe is
now witnessing
the rise in technical and Economic
powers of India
as a result of pursuance of the fellow ants back home
and the media reports
antsare returning to India
what’s driving this rush?
why did they leave?
andwhy do they want to come back?
now!
it is not the bad job market in the
west
but the plenitude of opportunities in India
better opportunities in a
growing economy!!!
We proudly call it
reverse brain drain
slowly the grasshoppers have also starting realizing
the
secret of the success of ants
they have also realized
that if they want to be successful they will have to work hard like ants
as a result few grasshoppers have already started working
as hard as they can
other grasshoppers are soon bound to
follow the suite
very soon India will emerge a
super power
as more and more grasshoppers
will join the band
We call it a
win-win situation
as the sun rises with the
synergy of ant and grasshopper
the story continues ...
