.history.• Perusahan Otomobil Nasional Berhad (PROTON)
was incorporated in May 7, 1983 to manufacture, assemble and sell motor vehicles and related products, including accessories, spare parts and other components.
• Produced Malaysia's first car, the Proton Saga, commercially launched on July 9, 1985 by then Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Mahathir Mohamed.
• PROTON's main plant in Shah Alam, with an area of 923 900 sq metres, designed for a capacity of 80 000 units per year. Today, the Shah Alam factory is capable of producing 240 000 vehicles per year.

Saga Iswara (1992–2008)
Since the 1990s, the saloon variant of the Proton Saga Iswara dominated as the preferable car model for taxicabs in Malaysia, as seen with these examples in Kuala Lumpur.
The Proton Saga Iswara Aeroback would later serve as the basis of the re-released Proton Sagas in the 2000s.
SAGA / S16 (2008-2010)
On January 18, 2008, Proton unveiled the successor to the 2007 Saga, which was planned to be phased out in June 2008.

The Proton Wira was a Carmanufactured by Malaysia carmaker Proton, released as a four-door saloon and four-door hatchback beginning 1993.

The Proton Persona is a compact introduced by Proton in 2007 for the same model year. Being an in-house design by Azlan Othman, the Persona replaced the saloon variant of the successful Proton Wira.

The Proton Inspira,or previously referred to as Proton New Sedan or codenamed P3-90A is an automobile produced by Proton as the successor to the Proton Waja. The Compact car is essentially a rebadged 9th generation (and current) Mitsubishi Lacer.
