Who are we?
SS BOFOS - The Autonomous Trade Union of
Employees in Banks, Insurance Companies and Other
Financial Organizations of Serbia is one of 28
autonomous trade unions representing different
branches and constituting the Confederation of
Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia.
What are our advantages?
• The representative branch union with the best developed personnel and technical infrastructure in
this country;
• We are affiliated to the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia that is the oldest and
largest trade union center in the country;
• We extend legal assistance to each of our members;
• We are active member of the most important international trade union organizations.
What is our goal?
The Autonomous Trade Union of Employees in Banks, Insurance
Companies and other Financial Organizations of Serbia is aimed at
promotion, preservation and improvement of workers’ rights achieved,
professional, economic and social interests of its members in
compliance with the highest international labour standards and
following the best practices in Europe.
What do we advocate?
• Equal treatment for everyone at the time of getting employed;
• Good working conditions;
• Health and social protection and safety at work;
• Possibility of personal advancement and creation of such a working
environment where employees will be motivated, satisfied and dedicated to
their work;
• Protection of workers’ rights through freedom to organize and free
expression;
• Freedom from any form of discrimination at workplace;
• Adequate protection from mobbing and all forms of harassment and
degradation at workplace.
What are our most important activities?
• Labour and legal protection of members;
• Collective bargaining and collective agreements conclusion at respective levels;
• Participation in collective labour disputes settlement;
• Protection of our members at the time of privatization of companies, structural changes and
redundancies;
• Representing interests of our members in cooperation with trade unions of other countries, and SS
BOFOS’ position strengthening in the international trade union organizations;
• Influence on state institutions aimed at preservation and protection of already achieved labour and
social rights;
• Upgrading the quality of existing services and introduction of new ones to membership
What do we fight against? • Disrespect of regulations;
• Understanding of a union as a remnant of the
communist ideology;
• Denying workers’ right to a holiday;
• Unrecorded and unpaid overtime;
• Mobbing;
• Burnout syndrome;
• All forms of discrimination at workplace;
• Missed chances for professional advancement due
to not knowing elementary labour rights;
• Violation of privacy at workplace.
How do we fight mobbing?
• We offer advice to union members who are mobbing victims in the “Anti-mobbing counseling office” of
SS BOFOS;
• We have established a team of anti-mobbing trainers and advisors who offer key information to the
SS BOFOS members with the aim to prevent and fight mobbing;
• We cooperate closely with relevant experts in the field of protection from mobbing;
• We organize seminars and training in prevention and protection from mobbing,
• We inform our members on a regular basis about all activities of the SS BOFOS in struggle against
mobbing.
What do we attach a special importance to?
1. Education
• We hold numerous educational seminars for the SS BOFOS members:
• We organize and participate in presentations, tribunes and other specialized meetings aimed at our
members’ education.
2. Information and communication
• We inform our members objectively and thoroughly on all activities of the SS BOFOS;
• We have developed a modern and efficient information system by means of the Internet
presentation of our union, electronic newspaper and reports;
• We communicate on a regular basis with our members and receive information on their needs, ideas
and problems.
3. Sport and recreation
• We regularly organize sport competitions called “Bofosijada”;
• Members of the SS BOFOS compete at workers’ sport gatherings of the Confederation of
Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia;
• When holding seminars, we also organize various excursions.
Who do we cooperate with?
• SS BOFOS is a full member of the World Organization of Workers
(WOW) with head office in Brussels;
• A very successful cooperation has been realized with the Danish
KRIFA and the Dutch CNV Internationaal;
• Friendly and cooperative relations have been established with the
Trade Union of Financial Organizations of Montenegro, the Trade Union of
Financial Organizations of Macedonia, the Trade Union of Financial
Organizations of the Republic of Srpska, the Autonomous Trade Union of
employees in Financial Organizations of the Federation of BiH and the Trade
Union of Financial Organizations of Slovenia (SDOS);
• We develop good cooperation with Greek trade unions: the branch
Trade Union of Greek Banks OTOE, the Trade Union of the National Bank of
Greece and the Trade Union of the EFG Eurobank;
• We have established cooperation with the Trade Union of
Fondiaria SAI from Italy, the Trade Union of Financial Organizations of
Italy (FISAC-CGIL), the Trade Union of Banks of Cyprus (ETUK), Austrian
Trade Union FCG/GPA, the European works council of the Erste Bank and the
Trade Union of Employees in Indian banks (AIBEA).
