For nearly a century now, the KLE Society has rendered Yeoman services to the cause of education. The seed was sown in 1916 with the establishment of an institution in the educationally ill-served region of North Karnataka. Today, that one seed has grown into a virtual forest with over 250 institutions in its fold.

Over the years, the KLE Society has never lost sight of the purpose that saw it come into being “Learning that transforms individuals and in turn transforms society at large.”This deep rooted desire to make a positive difference has resulted in a range of institutions that span everything from kindergarten to post doctoral research.

In 2006, the KLE Society had the satisfaction of gaining recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the KLE Academy of Higher Education & Research. The University takes immense pride in its curriculum and endeavours to provide internationally accepted education and healthcare practices. A new chapter now dawns at the KLE Society with the launch of the KLE Technological University (Under Karnataka University Act, 2013)

Being at the helm today, I follow the foot steps of many illustrious predecessors who have nurtured the vision of the founders. I am humbled by all that has been achieved by those before me. The achievements are, however, a source of inspiration too, in the sowing of new seeds, while carefully tending what has already grown.

The KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER) was granted Deemed-to-be-University status by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) on 13th April 2006. The University is also accredited with ‘A’ grade by the NAAC and has been placed in Category ‘A’ by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is one of the few deemed Universities to have both these unique distinctions. The KLE University is located in 100 acres campus that is meticulously planned.

KLE is a byword in India’s Educational spectrum. Its success story, of about ten decades, portrays the dedication with which millions of people worked selessly in the making of the ‘KLE’. KLE reach enviable heightsand has attained both national and International reputation under the visionary leadership of Chancellor, Dr. Prabhakar Kore. The Deemed-to-be-University comprising of the following Nine constituent units:

Today the nine constituent units are catering to the needs of a vast variety of students through its more than 200 courses across all streams of health sciences. The campus is world class in their infrastructure and faculty. The University caters to students of diverse nationalities from across the globe and is now emerging as a favourite destination for study amongst the international student fraternity. The Universities impetus on research has translated into several high class research projects and world class publications. The earn while you learn scheme, the Universities anti ragging and University anti women harassment cell are fully functional and have ensured that no untoward incident has occurred in the campus over the years. This has made our campus one of the safest in the country.

The KLE University has been accredited with ‘A’ Grade both in the 1st Cycle and the 2nd Cycle by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with CGPA of 3.14 and 3.34 respectively for a period of veyears w.e.f. 28th March 2010 to 27th March 2015 respectively. The Government of India (MHRD) has placed the KLE University in Category ‘A’.

1. The Deemed-to-be-University has been ranked 3rd under ‘Swachh Campus’ Ranking of Higher Educational Institutions by MHRD, Government of India in the category ‘University (Residential)’.

2. The Government of India (MHRD) has continued the Deemed-to-be-University status granted for a period from 13-04-2019 to 18-01-2021.

3. The Deemed-to-be-University has been ranked 5th (among the Deemed-to-be-Universities) on All India basis by India Today – Marketing and Development Research Associates (MDRA), New Delhi Group’s Best Universities Survey – 2019-20

4. The KLE University has secured 70th Rank in University Category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) at National level, declared on 11th June, 2020.

5. The KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research, Belagavi has been ranked 66th by Quacquarelli Symonds(QS) India University Ranking 2020, declared on 9th October, 2019.

6. The KLE Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital and Medical Research, Belagavi has been accredited by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) [Safe-I TSM Standards] as well as by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

7. KAHER has been registered under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 letter dated 2nd July, 2020.

The 9th Convocation of the University was conducted on 24th April 2019 in KLE Centenary Convention centre. Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Hon. Vice-President of India was the Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation Address. A total of 1,011 students were awarded with degrees, out of which Ph.D 10, DM/MCh 10, PG Degree 228, PG Diploma 01, Fellowship 8, Diploma 07, UG 729, Certicate courses 18 and Gold Medals 26 students received Gold Medals for their academic excellence.

As per the directions of the UGC, International Day of Yoga is being observed on 21st of June every year.

KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research, Belagavi arranged Live Webcasting / Telecasting of the Prime Minister launching of ‘Fit India Movement' Programme at the KLE Deemed University, Centenary Convention Centre, Belagavi on 29th August 2019.

Teachers’ Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr.SarvepalliRadhakrishnan, our former President and an illustrious teacher was celebrated by the KLE Deemed-to-be-University and a formal function was organized on this occasion at KLE Centenary Convention Centre, JNMC, Belagavi on 5th September 2019. Dr. P.V.Vijayaraghavan, Vice-Chancellor of Sriramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Deemed-to-be-University, Porur, Chennai (TN) was the Chief Guest.

The HUMBO - 2010 Annual Sports of the Deemed-to-be-University was conducted on 15th and 16th October, 2019. Mr. B.S. Lokesh Kumar, DIGP and Commissioner of Police, Belagavi was the Chief Guest for the inauguration and Mrs. MayuraShivalkar, Triathlete / Marathon Runner, Belagavi was the Chief Guest valedictory.

As per the letter received MGNCRE-DHE-MHRD-GOI-Swachhta Action Plan dated 14th October 2019, the KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research took up the task on hand for 100% Achievement in the Practices of Comprehensive Sanitation Management (including ODF) in the 2 adopted villages namely Bhutramanhatti and Godihal.

KAHER NSS Cell has adopted 5 villages Bhutramnahatti,Ukkad, Godihal, G Hosur, and Guggranatti under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. Various activities including village survey, awareness on plastic, open defecation, tobacco and its hazards. Health camps have been conducted.

It’s a proud moment for KAHER to inaugurate “WHO Collaborating Centre for Research in Maternal and Perinatal Health” on 22nd November, 2019 at the gracious hands of Dr Mark L Tykocinski, Provost & Dean, Thomas Jefferson University and “Microbiology Skill Laboratory”, a sponsored project by the Vision Group on Science & Technology, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Karnataka.

Department of Microbiology has started Covid-19 testing Lab at J.N. Medical College, Belagavi. The Lab is accredited by National Accreditation Board for Laboratories (NABL) and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Department of Health Research, Govt. of India, New Delhi for Covid-19 Testing Laboratory using Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) testing method since 29th June, 2020.

The University, over a period of time, keeping in view the societal needs and to keep pace with the recent advances, there has been constant growth in exploring the new areas in education by establishing Department of Public Health, Department of Clinical Research, School of Music, Department of University Department of Education for Health Profession, Basic Science Research Centres, etc. The University provides nancial assistance to undergraduates, postgraduates & faculty members for research.

The syllabus/curriculum of each course is administered by highly trained faculty and the syllabi are updated at regular intervals in order to keep the students abreast with the recent advances in the eld and also keeping in view the directions of the respective Regulating Councils and the UGC from time to time.

The Deemed University campus is very rich and vibrant with ve of its constituent units existing in this campus with state-of-art infrastructure, renowned and extensively experienced, dedicated and committed faculty, state-of-art teaching hospitals. The Deemed-to-be-University campus has also the Teaching Hospital with 2400 beds out of which 1200 beds are entirely free for teaching facilities and top notch diagnostic facilities under one roof.

The Wi-Fi and digital library, e-learning and other facilities are at par with best campuses of the country and abroad. The Deemed University is amongst very few institutions of the country to boast of the entire campus having Wi-Fi solution for internet access. Another milestone achieved is the collaboration with MedRC and establishment of SmartTeach server for students to access the high quality e-curricular content so that students can learn at their own pace as supplementary measure to the excellent classroom teaching. The existing curriculum is strengthened by integrating information and communication technology (ICT) to meet the changing global demands including entire automation process of examination branch. As per the directions of the UGC / Regulating Councils, the University has also incorporated teaching of Indian Constitution and Environmental Studies to Under-Graduate students for making them responsible global citizens.

of feedback from students, bridge courses for slow learners are regular feature of the constituent units of the KLE Deemed University.

The University Quality Assurance Cell is fully functional and regular meetings are held which ensure that quality is the dening statement of the University. The Deemed-

to-be-University has been submitting Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQAR) to NAAC Ofce every year.

The University has signed MoU’s and have collaborated for with Bill and Melinda Gates foundation USA, Fogarty International center National institute of health USA, WHO, The Global network for women’s and children Health Research of the Eunice Kennedy shrives National institute of Child health and Human Development USA, King’s College, London co-funded by UK Medical Research Council and Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, RTI International, USA, National Institute of Health/National Cancer Institute (NIH/NCI), USA, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA , Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society (KSAPS) Bangalore, VGST-Vision group of Sciences & Technology & ICMR in the last year to promote research and academic activities across the global forum.

The University has published “Students’ Code of Conduct” “Staff Code of Conduct” and “Staff Code of Conduct” handbook. Facilities like Bank, Pharmacy, Gym, Indoor

Stadium, Internet Access, Cafe, Department Store, Travelling booking facilities, etc. are provided in the campus itself.

The University declares most of its event well in advance and almost every event is held as time scheduled without deviation from the calendar of events.

The University has been competent enough to face any challenges in the years to come with active involvement, dedication and commitment from the faculty members

in order to ensure quality of teaching and learning and also to establish newer standards in the years to compete globally.

• The candidates seeking admission should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate examination PUC II/HSC or the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE) or any other equivalent to 10+2/HSC examination of any recognized Board/University from any School/College studied in India/Abroad after 12 Years of Study.

• The candidate should have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually and must have obtained at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taking together in the qualifying examination i.e. PUC II/10+2/HSC or equivalent.

• Age: The candidates should complete 17 years of age on or before the first day of December of the year for which admission is sought.

• Candidate should be NEET qualified.

• Degree/Diploma Course : A candidate who has passed the MBBS Degree examination after pursuing a study in a Medical College recognized by the Medical council of India of this university or of other recognized Medical College affiliated to any other university, recognized as equivalent thereto, and has completed one year Compulsory Rotating Internship in a teaching institution or other institution recognized by the Medical council of India, and has obtained permanent registration of any Medical Council, shall be eligible for admission provided the candidate for Degree/Diploma.
