Candidate Filing Process
• Declaration of candidacy changed toallow candidates to specify party
preference
• Candidate does not need to be
registered with the party not less than3 months, and not affiliated withanother party within 12 months
• All candidates, regardless of party,file for the same contest

Signature Checking Process
• Previously, signers of signatures-in-lieu
and nomination papers had to be thesame party as the candidate
• Now, party of voter signing thenomination documents is not relevantfor voter nominated offices
• Party of voter still relevant for CentralCommittee nominations

Poll Worker Training
• Poll workers must be
trained to understand newrules for party-nominated,voter-nominated and
nonpartisan offices
• Poll workers must
understand that “Declineto State” is now “No PartyPreference”
