Course Philosophyb. Course Goal

Academic Writing

At the end of the semester, the students should be able to produce a well-written research paper while observing the proper way of citing references.Also, the students should be able to present their findings and conclusions from the research conducted.

Course DescriptionThe course English Communication Skills 4: Academic Writing recognizes the continuously growing trend of research writing and the importance of research and development (R&D).

Academic Writing

The course aims to make students competent and effective writers using the English language. Furthermore, the course likewise aims to imbibe in the students the attitude of research mindedness and at the same time keeping in mind the legal and ethical considerations in conducting a research and in writing a research paper.

Description of LearnersThe course Academic Writing is a course intended for college students in general since competence in written communication using the the English language is one of the basic skills that is expected from a college graduate or degree holder. This course is designed for second year college students who have not taken the required pre-requisite subjects.

XII. Rules and Policies

a. University Rules (Refer to Students' Handbook)b. Classroom Decorum-Students should observe silence and discipline during class hours. Gadgets such as cellphone, music players and earphones are STRICTLY prohibited. The use of laptop, tablets and other related devices is permissible only when necessary. At all times, however, these devices must be put into silent mode to avoid class interruption.

c. Submission of Requirements1. An output submitted after class hours of the date of the deadline is considered a late project.2. A late project or output is given an automatic deduction of ten (10) points and a deduction of 1 point for each succeeding day.
