The Oxford Cambridge Boat Race was first run in 1829. This year, the men‘s race will start at 4.10pm, and the women will race on the same day - an hour earlier at 3.10pm. Take your place along the Thames or in a riverside pub to watch the fun, but remember that the race can be over in as little as 16 minutes, so don‘t be caught at the bar. GEORGE GOES GENTLY INTO THE 2016 BUDGET Chancellor George Osborne had no major nasties up his sleeve for property purchasers in his Spring Budget. Even though he made much of the poor global outlook, he insisted that the UK economy was on track and he even managed some giveaways. Small businesses and the self-employed by cuts in corporation tax and increases to business rate relief. The tax-free personal allowance will rise next year, as will the higher rate tax band. On the whole, this was a careful Budget by the Chancellor. LONDON LIFE: THE RAILWAY CHILDREN The well-loved children‘s book, The Railway Children, comes to life in a new, purpose-built set that includes a real train track. A 60-tonne vintage steam locomotive puffs right into the King‘s Cross theatre in this atmospheric production. It tells the story of Bobbie, Peter and Phyllis, who have to move to Yorkshire when their father disappears. They love the locomotives that run near their new home, befriend the station master, Perks, and have several adventures before a train traveller helps reunite them with their father. HOUSE HUNTING?
