Here we are at the big 5-0! Our 50th Class Reunion seemed so very far away just five years ago when we were discussing plans for our next celebration after the 45th reunion at The Warehouse. The planning committee decided to hold this monumental occasion at the Ringgold Depot in downtown Ringgold, GA for a fun day with our classmates. So, here we go...

Class of 1962 Prophecy As written by Sandra Coleman Foster...

Recently, I stopped at a news stand and bought a paper which I thought to be the regular evening edition. As I got on the bus and started reading I found, however, it was anything but ordinary. The date on the front page read as follows: February 1, 1972.

As I scanned the headlines, familiar names jumped out at me. It looks as if we have a woman president and who else would that be but Della Drake! On her staff we find as Secretary of the Treasury, Edward Mitchell, and his honorable assistant, Tommy Shirley. Another story concerning Chief of Justice, David Gass and his Associate Judges, Lawrence Guess and Wayne Ervin. It shows their picture and they certainly do look dignified in their long black robes. Carol Heuser and Lila Addison have discovered the cause and cure of rabies. They have been offered a position with the famous Ronnie Gossett Dog Kennels of which he has been owner and operator for the past five years. Eugene White has gone further than any of us. He was the first human ever to come back after spending two years on the moon. He says he never could have made it without the helpful assistance of his space mechanics, Lanny Viall, Roy Pool, David Griffith, Joyce Evitt, and Marie Foster. Skipping to the comic section we find high ranking cartonists, CHARLES CORFITZSON, CHARLES CURETON, and JIMMY HASKETT. In the entertainment section we find an article about CHARLENE LEWIS. It says she is now the mother of three goldie “lockers” who star with her in her latest Walt Disney Movie. Why, here’s a column by NANCY DICKERT who has taken Hedda Hopper’s place as Chief Gossip Manager of Hollywood. She says LINDA CRAZE and LARRY HURLEY have pushed Marge and Gower Champion out of first place as America’s Dancing Sweethearts. They say they have their Choreographer,BRENDA WELLS, to thank for their success. Did you know that JERRY DANIELS and PHYLLIS CHAMBERS have been hired as the new Tarzan and Shenna of the Jungle to star in a motion picture directed

by RONNIE BROWN. JOHNNY CHAMBERS, a bright newcomer on Broadway, has announced his engagement to a Greenwich Village Beatnik. MICKEY ACTON is now the starred twirler of the popular TV show, Uncle Max and Aunt Ann....those two being non other than MAX COULTER and ANN HALE. The Maharaja of Siam who used to be known as CHARLES WIGGINS is visiting Hollywood to pick several new beautiful girls for his harem. In the local news we find the new officers of the Lakeview P.T.A. to be SHEILA PATTEN, President, FRIEDA EARLS, Vice President, VICKI HARRIS, Secretary, NANCY ROBINSON, Treasurer, and ALICE HETHCOAT, Program Director. The new owner of Lake Winnepasaka, ROGER MCKINNEY, has hired GARETH MATTHEWS and JOHN MILES as kiddie operators. His new snowball an cotton candy peddlers are ELAINE KING, JOAN LYLE, BETTY HARRIS STILL, and SUSAN HARP. MURLEENE WIMPEE, CATHY LITTLE, JUDY EDMONDS, and VERDIE HENEGAR finally bought the Chow-Now and their curb boys are ROGER HOPE, BOBBY HODGES, AND CLYDE MATHEWS who are kept busy serving the delicious hamburgers made by short order cook, CAROL CISLO. JUDI MORGAN has been crowned “Farm Girl of the Year” by a panel of five experts...JERRY CLARK, TOM JARNIGAN, DEWITT SLATTON, BEN TINGLE and CHARLES HENLEY. The Society section says that LINDA EDGEMON and GAYNELL COOPER have just returned from a trip abroad with their husbands. The Mayor of Rossville, CHARLES LOVE, has presented well-known dentist, BUDDY PARHAM, with the Best Dressed of the Year Award and his assistant, LYNN LONG. JIMMY BETTIS has been awarded with a gold medal for the bouffant hair styles which he and his assistant, SONJA GRANT, have created. Their first customers were: MARJORIE NEWELL, CARNELLA CROWE, and DIANE OSBORNE. MARY WALL is announcing her engagement to the gentleman who will become her fifth husband. Just think of dragging five men to the alter when most of us can’t even get one! GAYNELL COXWELL, now MRS. RICHARD POOLE, is retiring; waterlogged from Florida where she has been a water ski instructor for nine years. DORA COWART MIDDLETON is

celebrating her tenth wedding anniversary this month. JEAN BODKIN and LINDA GILBERT are traveling with the famous BILLY MAYNOR Recording Company. LINDA PROCTOR, BETH TAYLOR, CHARLENE TUCKER, HAVILAH SHIRLEY, KAY BAKER, JUDI ROBERTS, and PAT GODDARD are on tour of the United States as members of an all girl hillbilly band. Here is an advertisement for a ranch type house with plenty of room for tramping of little feet put in by SANDRA COLEMAN, now MRS. ROBERT FOSTER. Here’s somebody trying to sell a chicken farm. Looks like the old maid, SHELBA NELSON with her two favorite cats. They say she has over a hundred crowded around her rocking chair every day. Wonder whatever happened to our President, JIMMY BERNARD. Oh, here he is. It says Jimmy is a big successful business executive. He has been elected as President of the “All Day Lollipop Company”. We all know NIETA COULTER, his wife, is the boss. Oh yes, here it says MRS. LOIS BALDWIN and MRS. AUDREY BROWN, Senior Class Sponsors, are still teaching the students that pass through the halls of Lakeview High.Lakeview High School should be proud of the heights attained in ten years by the Class of 1962.
