Clearing grinder blockagesGrinder blockages can cause a number of problems, your machine may not be able to
dispense coffee as a result.
If coffee is not being dispensed, follow these steps to identify and solve the issue:
1. Open the front panel of the machine and ensure that the bean hopper seal [figure
38] is not closed and preventing beans from entering the grinder.
2. If this does not solve the issue, then switch off the Prontobar machine, unscrew
and remove the coffee bean hopper from the upper portion of the machine [figure 39]
before ensuring that the machine is 100% powered down.
3. Using the grinder clearing tool provided [figure 40] place the tool into the grinder and
lock into position on the central column [figure 41].

Troubleshooting (Continued)No milk / reduced milk / milk is not frothing correctlyCheck all the milk system and pipes for any blockages, i.e. dried/thick milk.(This is by far the most common reason for no/reduced milk)In this case please follow the instructions on page 7 ensuring everything is cleaned properly and no pipes are kinked or damaged.
If this does not fix the issue, please try the steps below.
Check the milk container has sufficient milk.Check all internal pipes to make sure there are no kinks or pinches. Make sure that when the door closes the milk pipe is correctly seated in its hole and it is not pinched in the door.
Check where the milk pipe is placed in the milk;Ensure it is actually in the milk and not sitting above it.Alternatively make sure that it is not touching the bottom of the milk container as the suction can cause it to fix itself to the container stopping the milk flow.
If all of the above has been checked and the whole milk system is clean the final issue maybe too much or too little air mixing with the milk. The amount of air mixing with the milk can be adjusted by turning the air valve with a screwdriver. Turn clockwise to decrease the amount of air and anti-clockwise to increase (see below).
*Please note, milk can froth differently from different batches and with age. Milk that is about to go off will not froth at all. This difference in froth will affect the drink levels in the cup.
Milk too coldClean the milk frotherIncrease the temperature using the milk flow regulator - if fitted.Ensure machine is up to temperature giving time in between drink dispensing.
Milk not frothingClean the milk frotherIncrease the foam amount by using the foam adjustment screw
Milk not being dispensedEnsure frother is cleanCheck the tightness of the milk flow regulator - this can be overtightened causing milk blockages.Ensure milk pipe is not kinked or become disconnected.Clean restrictor located at the end of the milk pipe - if fitted
Water leaking under the machine(Mains fill only) Check the water connection to the back of the machine is tight and not dripping.Check there are no cracks in the drip tray and it is pushed fully into place.Check there are no cracks in the grounds draw and it is positioned correctly.Check the drip tray is not full or has a cracked or split.
If these steps have not fixed your issue please call our team on 01977 687 580
Failure to clean your machine properly will invalidate machine warranty in the event of a breakdown.
