Why So Confusing?
• In Korean language, there is only one letter that performs these two sounds
• It is: ㄹ• In English, they are two very distinct sounds– /l/, /r/
Similarities/Differences
• What is similar about /l/ & /r/ ?– Continuants: We can continue making these
sounds as long as we have air in our lungs

When Larry lived in his hometown, he loved to ride the range. He regularly left early in the morning and rode until he saw the lovely lake on his land.
