Standard ProMove Sling for children The Standard ProMove Sling for children provides a safe and comfortable means of lifting and moving a disabled child by two or more persons and can be an introduction to hoisting later, allowing the child and parents to become familiar with slings. Ideal for holidays and days out to access so many more experiences in places where you cannot take a hoist. The sling is fitted with a 3-point strap crossing the hips and passing between the legs; this is easily removed if not required.

The age range shown is as a general guide and you should consider whether your child is large or small for his/her age. The design of the sling is very accommodating, catering to a range of different sizes of individual, hence the overlap between models.

Although the sling is intended primarily for manually handling without a hoist, the addition of hoist straps enables the sling to be used with a patient handling hoist of the type that has a spreader bar (not models with a clip attachment). The compact bag is a convenient way of taking the sling and hoist straps with you. All child models have a safe working load of 10 stone (140lb, 63kg.) Wash at 72 ˚C. Do not tumble dry.

The adult sling can accommodate the vast majority of adults, including moderately bariatric individuals and larger children. However, there are models available specifically for people of bariatric size (see under components of the BariKit).

Although the sling is intended primarily for manually handling without a hoist, the addition of hoist straps enable the sling to be used with a patient handling hoist of the type that has a spreader bar (not models with a clip attachment). You should ensure that the hoist is rated appropriately when hoisting large adults.

The compact bag is a convenient way of taking the sling and accessories with you. The adult sling has a safe working load of 45 stone (630lb, 285kg) but realistically will be too small for individuals of this weight and a bariatric model should be selected. Wash at 72 ˚C. Do not tumble dry.

Slings for emergency services


Ambulance Patient Transfer Service (PTS) KitComprising an Emergency Services (ES) sling, Super Bariatric Sling (SBS), set of 8 extension handles and bag. Members of the Ambulance Service are responsible for getting patients to where they need to be cared for in emergency and non-emergency situations and are routinely called to lift and transfer incapacitated people.

The PTS Kit will accommodate individuals from a larger child to obese adults. The red ES sling has a safe working load of 45 stone/630lb/290kg and is easily placed beneath a seated or recumbent individual allowing a team of operatives to lift and transfer that person fully supported without pressure points, minimising risk of further injury. As the load is distributed between several operatives and each has a good handle, risk of musculoskeletal injury is significantly reduced.

The Super Bariatric Sling has a safe working load of 63 stone/880lb/400kg and is the largest sling available for transferring bariatric casualties; with 7 handles. Crane Sling KitThe Crane sling and Spacer Bar by ProMove is the only sling world-wide suitable and rated for lifting a bariatric person by crane or rope and pulley. The kit comprises: crane sling, (incorporating head support and red X shaped safety harness), two-piece metal spacer bar, 2 x stirrups, dignity sheet, set of 6 adjustable anchor straps, set of 12 steel connectors, large tubular slide sheet, bugg strap, set of 8 extension handles and a large carry bag. Individual crane kit items can be bought separately.

The spacer bar and sling conform to the following regulations: EN 1498: 2006/CE/Medical Device Regulation (EU) 2017/745. The Crane sling kit has been rated to a SWL 500 kg (78 stone/1102 lb), each stirrup has been rated to a SWL 100kg (16 stone/220 lb). The Crane Sling and Stirrups are intended for hoisting by crane or rope and pulley. The handles are to assist with getting the sling into place and manoeuvring the individual/casualty before lifting. Safe working loads apply when lifting forces are attached to the appropriate steel points.Moving bariatric individuals has special problems and careful planning and risk assessment is needed. Placing a bariatric individual on their back may not be possible because of health or location problems. In some cases, this can cause serious respiratory difficulty that may be fatal. They can help your patient repositioning and transfer needs. They are manufactured in Cromptons Transtex low friction silicon coated fabric strength, durability and low friction movement. NOT FOR LIFTING. Follow patient handling guidelines. Reusable tubular slide sheetTranstex RS reusable tubular slide sheets are suitable for hospital laundering. Extension Handles (set of 8) – To enable the adult sling to be used with larger individuals or in difficult locations. Hoist StrapsTo be used with the child and adult slings with a spreader bar type hoist. Four colour coordinated straps easily fitted to the handles of the same colour by a larks foot knot, and provide loops to attach to a hoist. When going on holiday it means you just need to take the one sling – for transfers on the journey there and for hoisting at the resort.

PLEASE NOTE: The hoist straps are not compatible with hoists using clip attachments, and the operative must be sure they understand the operation of the hoist and its suitability for the size and weight of the individual before usage.
