PROMOTIONAL POSTER 1PROMOTIONAL POSTER 1The date of the event is set at the top of the poster in capital letters. This is in order to keep the poster

simple but also highlight vital information as to where it is placed makes it a key aspect towards

what it is trying to sell.

The masthead of the poster is set in the middle of the poster with a blue neon glow around the blue text itself. ‘Electric Love’ is written in fancy calligraphy,

this maybe representing the fact that the even itself will be sophisticated and mature. It does not cover

the main image of the woman as the main image has to be the fundamental aspect of the poster because illustrations help attract a consumer. Even though most of the sub text takes over the bottom of the main image, we can still see the feminine body

language portrayed as the woman is standing with one leg in the air showing off her assets because this

is the ‘clubbing’ lifestyle. The details on the bottom of the poster help give

information to the consumer on the event that it to take place. The typography used is bold and big

writing with borders around them, the creator may have deliberately done this to make the poster not only look appealing but to highlight the significant

fine points on what the event has to offer.

The ‘TRADEMARK’ logo is situation for promotional reasons.

PROMOTIONALPROMOTIONAL POSTER 2 POSTER 2The main colours used are

burgundy red and black. These being the two dominant colours of the magazine are quite low

key amongst the bright colours of pinks, greens, oranges and yellows. This may be done to deliberately highlight the main image of the female dressed in a crop top and pants. This type

of clothing highlights the feminism to her body,

portraying that going clubbing will make you fit and healthy. The positive view towards this promotional poster is that the

symbols of music such as the headphones, and DJ’s names

will definitely influence consumers to become likeable

with the music that is being sold. Once again the date is

situated in a clear position, not exaggerating it too much but just making sure it is there.

We know that this poster is promoting a party that holds the

genre House/Techno music therefore targeting the people who like that type of music to

come along. It specifically says ‘Dress sexy’, I believe that the

main image helps the consumer to be able to get an idea on

what sexy means to the publisher of this magazine, this

influences them to dress like the woman on the poster. It clearly states that the poster

was designed by the company ‘Burn Water’ this gives them an

opportunity to become recognised, because if

someone enjoys the sight of the poster and would want to know who made it, the information is given to them as a website is accessible. Nowadays most

people are to use the internet to find out about things, so this

was a good way to promote the company.

OUR PROMOTIONAL POSTEROUR PROMOTIONAL POSTERColours: We used a range of colours from blues,

purples to pinks. This is because these are the colours that you are to conventionally see on a

music poster that fits into the dance genre. Making the colours neon also fitted into the similar criteria. They are bright colours, to stand out and attract the

audience.Title: ‘..Your Love’, this is obviously the title to the song of Hypasonic’s. We were to sell the song on this poster therefore it would be unlikely to have it

situated on the poster otherwise the audience would not know of what it was to advertise. It is in a fancy type of calligraphy that shows sophisticated and free flow of feminism, the neon once again highlights the song and promotes it to it’s advantage, also it makes

the poster loo k more professional.Main Image: The main image is placed in the centre of the poster, and takes up nearly all of the canvas,

but still allowing us to see the background. The border around the females highlights there assets

which relates to the notion of looking. The logo: Our main logo was the lips, we have it

ontop of the main image, however not covering it up but it is seen as a big image, this is because it has

an important as everything related to the music video and the song has the lips somewhere situated

throughout.

CD COVERSCD COVERSMy group and I went to different supermarkets such as Tesco, Asda and

Morrisons to look for some CD Covers that we could create and gather ideas on to what we may include to our subsidiary tasks.

The main elements we were to research were:

Page 7: Promotional Posters & DVD Covers

Facial Expression: The women are either looking seductively into the lens of the camera to suggest they are wanting to attract more of the male consumer. By doing this they will either

pout with their lips or ‘smize’ (a term to describe the model smiling with their eyes). The facial part is one of the main attractions as it helps promote

the model/artists persona in another element, this element being the physical aspects of them.

The model could also be smiling, this giving a positive view towards the model and the what the

company of the production is trying to sell.

Body Language: The models will be stood in most likely a dance move that may be used often in the settings of a club at a party or a major event. The main pose would be the hand on the head, arms in the air highlighting the upper body from the shoulders to the pelvis.

The assets on the female would also be highlighted by the lighting on the image, also a border around the edges of the body places of

emphasises the curves of the woman.

Colours: The colours used are simple yet highly appealing as bright colours are used to fit into the criteria of a dance genre. Pinks, purples and blues are quite feminine colours, therefore they are used to promote the feminism but also to create a centre of attention on the main image. On the ‘headkandi’ cover, two

colours of black and white are used, this is to show the simplicity of what it has to portray also to show the emphasis on the main image and the title of the cover

itself.

Text: The text on the covers are usually bold or and stick to one or two standard colours. On the

‘dance nation’ cover, the two main colours are white and pink, the creator may have deliberately

used this colours as they match with the feminism on the cover. Also, they are also

classed as club based colours. ‘Your big night out’, this basically is saying to it’s audience that you don’t need to spend money to have a fun

night out with your friends or even on your own, if you purchase the CD, you will be able to have

equivalent fun to what you would be having in a club. ‘Clubland 16’, from here it is obvious that Clubland publish a lot of CD’s, this may be the 16th CD as highlighted by the big typography of

the 16 itself, again a simple and solid is used for it however this makes an emphasis on it because

it is an important element on the cover.

Artist recognition:On both of these covers, artists and bands that are

published in the CD are noticeably on the cover in a list, this is because it gives them recognition therefore making them

the most listened and attractive musical people in the industry, promoting their success.

The target audience: ‘Anthems Electronic 80’s’ CD target people who enjoy listening to 80’s music especially in the dance genre. The Ministry of Sound logo is evidently placed as a centred main image, therefore targeted the audience who enjoy listening to this certain company’s music. The colours used for the logo are yellow, pink and blue; a mixture of feminine and masculine colours therefore attracting both genders. The ‘Electro’ CD would be a definite audience of majority of

females as the main image of Lady Gaga may attract the people who desire her, and it is known that most females do. This is not to say that the main image will not also attract the male gender

too. The age of the audience would most likely to be teenagers 15-20 or even an older audience no older than the age of 30.

As stated on the CD ‘Electro’, it says ‘Clubbers Guide’, this therefore targeting the people who enjoy going to clubs and are in touch with the latest Dance/Electro music.

The title of the DVD cover: The white text highlights the title again the dark background. Subtitles: The subtitles are a font size smaller than the masthead itself, showing that they have just as much importance as the title however they are just secondary assistants of

the main labelling of the cover.

Colours: Blue and white. To show masculinity towards the cover. Also, the fact that there is two dominant colours show the simplicity of what the DVD has to portray.
