February at a Glance
Introduce yourself and get to know them. In-vite them to sections and fundraisers. Think Laughlin!
We will be having a fundraiser at Ruby’s on Feb. 28 from 10 – 4. Pick up your flyers at the Feb. general meet-ing. They will give us 20% of the total we spend. Yummy food!
Remember to save pull – tabs for Ronald McDonald House, Gen-eral Mills red education coupons for McGaugh and plastic bags for the
Animal Shelter. This is on–going during the whole Club year.
Let’s wish our ill mem-bers a speedy recovery – Charlene Frazier, Cathy Oliver, Kathy Cunning-ham, Dixie Redfearn and Fran White.
See you at the general meeting on Feb. 21 where we will learn about sharks. Please bring your own mug and to-go container. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Coming Clean by Kimberly Mae Miller
Considering its grim subject matter, Coming Clean is a surprisingly upbeat memoir. Kimberly Rae Miller takes us back, as much as she may be able, to a home, being raised by hoarding par-ents. Growing up, the kitchen was often too messy to eat in...the fam-ily would gather on the parent’s bed, the only clear space in the house to eat dinner.
Please arrive at 11:45 a.m. on the first Wednesday of the month at the library Senior Center. Game begins promptly at 12:15 p.m. Bring your lunch, if you wish and $3 for Bunco. Coffee, tea and a snack will be provided.

Come meet Chris Lowe of “Shark Lab” at our February General Meeting.
Chris Lowe has had a life-long fascination with sharks, ever since he snagged a dogfish shark as a kid and rushed to the library to find out what it was. And through a 30-year-career as a marine biologist, he’s studied tiger sharks, hammerheads, blue sharks, reef sharks, you name it.
“I swore I would never work on white sharks”, Lowe said in his office, the Shark Lab of Cal State Long Beach, over the hum of the pumps that drive the tanks where small sharks and other species swim. “They get way too much credit; that’s all the public ever thinks about when you say ‘shark’. Why would I want to be involved with that when there are so many other cool sharks? I think the thing that lured me in was working with the babies. They are actually kind of cute.”
Meet in Pavilion’s lot at 10:30am.
Lunch first at Lucille's BBQ at the Town Center on Carson at 11:30 a.m..
Then travel to the Ran-cho for a docent tour of the Rancho at 1:00pm.
For a lovely outing, join the trip to Rancho Los Cerritos.
Rancho Los Cerritos was built in 1844. It was the largest adobe
residence in Southern California during the Mexican period.
It has a Victorian style home with an Italian garden.
It was declared a Na-tional Landmark in 1970.
