• We do not work in isolation but as part of a team.
• There is a need to discuss options.
• Care plans made with the woman (and extended family unit as appropriate).
• Language important here
When we think of promoting health midwives need to be aware of women’s health issues generally as women are all unique individuals with a history before we meet them and
their lives will continue after we finish caring for them.
examples include her previous experience of:
• family planning services
• cervical cancer screening services
• breast screening services
• infertility services
