UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SANTA BARBARA PROMISSORY NOTE

THE REGENTS EMERGENCY LOAN FUND — EAP

FOR VALUE RECEIVED, I , hereinafter called the Maker, promise to pay to The Regents of the University of California, at the Cashier’s Office, University of California, Santa Barbara, located at Santa Barbara, California, the sum of

($ ) DOLLARS, together with all reasonable attorneys’ fees and other costs and charges for the collection of any amount not paid when due according to the terms of this note.

The Maker further understands and agrees, and it is understood between parties that:

I. Repayment of such principal, together with accrued interest thereon, shall be made on a regular repayment plan schedule over a period no longer that twenty-four months from the date of receipt of the award, with the first payment due six months after termination of studies in the Study Center abroad and interest at three percent (3%) per annum on the unpaid balance commencing upon graudation or withdrawal from the University.

(1) Plan A: Semi-annual installments, commencing not later than the first day of the sixth month following termination of studies in the Study Center abroad.

(2) Plan B: Quarterly installments, commencing not later than the first day of the sixth month following termination of studies in the Study Center abroad.

II. The Maker may at his option and without penalty prepay all or any part of the principal and accrued interest at any time.

III. Interest shall not accure until graduation or withdrawal from the University of California. Periodic installments need not be paid until six months after termination of studies in the Study Center abroad.

IV. The Maker hereby certifies that he has received no other long-term Regents’ Loan Funds, which, when added to the sum advanced pursuant to this Note, would be in excess of $4,000.

V. In the event of a default in the payment of any of the installments due on this note, the entire unpaid indebtedness, including interest due and accrued thereon, shall, at the option of the University, become immediately due and payable.

VI. In the event of the Maker’s death or total and permanent disability, the unpaid indebtedness hereunder (including accrued interest, if any) may be cancelled.
