About the Product:

TrueSpirit is a new internet clothing retailer for parents who want a modern school uniform. It makes finding the right uniform easy and quick and unlike other uniform retailers it does it all with a sense of fun.

About the Project: TrueSpirit is a new start-up based in the Bay Area. The TrueSpirit team was looking to create an appealing experience for busy parents that could be delivered via web and mobile channels.

The team was given the constraint of targeting the web as the primary delivery channel.

User interviews

Method: We researched dozens of other online retailers that specialized in school uniforms, kids’ clothes, and household goods to understand both what the current market is for school uniforms and what are the online retail experiences that parents have come to expect.

Findings: Current online retailers of school uniforms had sites that were confusing and could easily make parents take a lot longer to buy a uniform than it would to buy non-uniform clothing. With time pressures that parents face, opportunities for frustration are even more severe.

Opportunities Identified: Create an easy way for parents to know that they’ve found the correct uniform and quickly make the purchase.

1). Finding the school is very important2). Parents knowing that they’ve “finished the outfit” is key3). Quickly buying the outfit allows more time for buying non-uniform items

Scenarios

Method: We ideated and sketched out possible user scenarios:

- Parent who has direct link to shopping list from school- Parent without link, but knows school’s name

And came up with the flowing user journeys:

AWARENESS Awareness of the product

SET UP AND FIRST RUN

SUCCESSFUL SHOPPING EXPERIENCE

Opportunities Identified: By creating an easy path to follow for parents the process of buying a small outfit or a large outfit requires very little effort and leads to more successful checkouts.
