Project Tracking System - PTS

• A PTS is a database that allows for the management of project and organizational information, data, and resources

• A PTS is also a user interface that allows consumers to search, query, and monitor project information, data, and resources

Presentation Notes
The SRLCC currently has an unconnected system of 4 platforms with no tracking, filtering, or searching mechanisms. This affects our ability to make science information and products available, and delivered in a timely manner.

PTS Need

I found discrepancies between the website and the project spreadsheet. Is project 1 completed? It states completed in spreadsheet but not on website. If it is completed, please send completion date and final report if there is one. Please update on spreadsheet.

• Project 2 : completed on website but not on spreadsheet

• Project 3 : completed on website but not on spreadsheet.

Example of an email that presents how the current system creates inaccuracies in the science information being delivered.

PTS Provides

• Makes day to day business more efficient by providing the ability to track, manage, monitor, and report on all phases of a project

– Timelines -Funding -Deliverables – Outcomes -Contacts -End users

• Ensures that science information and products are available, and delivered in a timely manner

Example of all the pieces that are associated with a project. By filtering or searching on a project, one will have the ability to see all associated deliverables.

• Science delivery – What has been completed? – Where has it been completed? – What products are already available? – What is still needed?

PTS Provides

PTS Provides

• Tracking resource change – What were the outcomes

• On the ground conservation, habitat increased • Management changed resulting in more efficient use of

resource • Improved planning for predicted future conditions

– What is the status of the resource 3, 5, 10 years after project completion

Streamflows

Project 1

Prioritized flows for cottonwood

on Duchesne

Prioritized flows for native fish

Report: Colorado cutthroat

population rebound

Project 2

Water prediction Water conservation

Report: Consumption

dropped 1 million acre feet

PTS Status

• Currently in development phase • Using a previously developed database for

efficiency – Matt Heller, Great Northern LCC

• Customized for SRLCC needs – Focal resources – Focal geographies
