“Build, Destroy, Rebuild”
Funding Success February 2010Project S2Di0 received a £4,870.00 grant from Nottinghamshire Community Foundation, supported by the One Nottingham Small Grants Scheme for project Entitled “Expansion of Recording Studio”
Our First promotional feature, in the Nottingham NCVS Group Development Newsletter, this newsletter was to document and publish the work of the NCVS group development officers. This included a section about how they have helped us and includes a quote from Tom Harris, Project Manager, Project S2Di0.
The NCVS where extremely helpful to us when we where at the early stage of our development. They gave us the appropriate guidance, support and resources we needed to be able to apply for funding, have all of our policies in place and the correct management structure.

This is our second feature in the NCVS Summer magazine. They featured Project S2Di0 in a case study, to demonstrate how they help to develop and promote community groups. They took the opportunity to promote our further project needs.
Graphic Designer Petra Martinaskova, created a selection of logo’s suitable to brand our organisation. She is a good friend of the project and also offered her design service’s as a volunteer. Her work is very creative and let to our final selection.
This is the final design the project team decided we should use. The design was hand drawn, scanned into the computer and enhanced using computer software.
The logo again is very creative, has a professional, presentable look to it and what we need from our logo.
Project S2Di0 participated in National Volunteers Week 2010, which took place in the market square, Nottingham.

Project Launch
Our Project Launch Event, these are some of the Draft flyers for the event, designed by Alex Beech and “The Camera Never Lies Deisgns”, the Red design was the final design that we used for the Launch Event. We had 250 produced by a local printing company, this was paid for by charitable donations made to the organisation.
This is the press release by Ian White of the communications team at the NCVS. This was sent to the BBC, Nottingham Evening Post and the Left Lion Newspaper. We received a response from the Evening Post and a week later we had a featured article in the newspaper.
This is the featured article in the Evening Post. The article was written by Tanya Holden. Photographer Shawn Ryan came to the studio and photographed Tom, Doug and Alex. We received a lot of good feedback from the publicity, and a lot of interest in our group.

Introducing Project S2dio
Added paragraphs for script
Project S2dio aims to develop musicians & artists from the
grass root stages with help from professionally trained
engineers, producers and musicians. We can guide artists
through the writing, recording and production leading to a
finished product whether it be a single, mix tape or album.
Project S2fio can also aid in CD pressing, album artwork,
establishing websites Myspace and Facebook pages. Our
aim is to also to offer an outlet for emerging artist &
musicians by organizing live music events, aiding with music
promos and securing radio play.
Based in central Nottingham, with all major transport link
with a stones throw away, Project S2dio is easily access
able. If you are an emerging artist or musician why not
check out our facilities, you can find us at the first floor of
the Personal Storage building on Meadow Lane, Lay Bay
Bridge Nottingham NG2 3HQ. Call us for more information
on 07540300125 or 07843916557. Our Myspace page is

A second IS Creative proposal from Ioney, in which she proposes to direct a Music Video for Project S2Di0 artist “Sam Fletcher”, Another example of her proffesionalism.
Unity Bank Account. NCVS group development officer’s advised us that Unity Bank would be a good option to hold a bank account with. We reviewed the account’s they offered and decided that an account with Unity would be the best option. This agreement was conducted by Yuefong Wong, Project S2Di0 Treasurer.
Nottingham Trent University Volunteering Scheme. We met Caroline Bell at the National Volunteers Week in June. She is the volunteer Co-ordinater for the University. We participated in The volunteers fair in October, to promote our volunteering opportunities, recruit volunteers and do some networking, Yuefong Wong was responsible for this event.

George Savage’s Testimonial -
“I have really enjoyed my time at Project S2di0, I feel I have gained some valuable life skills and developed my character. The thing which I have learned the most is from people, from watching other people
work in such an intimate environment”

We received 12 hours ofbusiness support and advicefrom Seema Edwards, whois from Business Link. She was very helpful, putting us on Business Course’s and Workshops, introducing us to useful people and coming up with new idea’s on how to further develop ourorganisation.
Seema Edwards put us in touch with Nick Taylor from an organisation called “Enable”, the support voluntary and community groups in the Nottinghamshire area. Nick has been supporting us by introducing us to new funding opportunities, workshops and offering us general advice on the direction and management of our group. This was a Skill Pledge, which is a government scheme, once a member of this scheme we can publicly announce our commitment to developing our skills and the skills of others, with the use of their logo on our publishing materials
Project S2Di0 has also becomemembers of Enable. This entitles the project to the support ofthe workforce developmentofficers, such as Nick Taylor.
This is “Development Monitoring System” we use to monitor the success rates of the project. This is recorded on a daily basis and signed by a member of the Project Management Team.

Nottinghamshire Community Foundation 2010 Grant
Monitoring Report 21st September 2010
Project S2Di0
Dear Samantha Wright,
! Thank you very much for giving us this opportunity to be able to carry out our work, I feel this grant
has been fundamental to the growth and development of our organization over the last 8 months, which
hopefully you will be able to see in this monitoring report. It is very much appreciated by all of the people
involved with our group.
! In this monitoring report I have enclosed some evidence of our work and also evidence on how the
grant has been spent.
! Firstly I have enclosed an envelope, with some of the promotional material we have had pressed
with the funding. This includes;
- Business Cards for 4 members of the management team
- Project S2Di0 Brochures, we have used for National Volunteers Week and other events
- Black Sheep Volume 1 - a compilation CD of some of the project S2Di0 Artists and musicians
- Project S2Di0 Launch Event Flyers (Purchased with Donations)
!
! Secondly I have enclosed an envelope, with pictures of our launch event and some of the Volunteers
who have helped us do this project, each picture has an explanation on the back.
! I have also enclosed two CD"s, both labeled. The first one contains audio from an interview we had
on Kemet Radio in June, this interview was held with Jackie P and Juicy Lucy of Kemet Radio. This CD also
contains Audio from our launch event which was also held in June, a few volunteers who helped us do the
live sound on the night did these recordings.
! The second CD contains audio from one of several of our Jam Cafe gig"s, which involved many of
the Project S2Di0 Musicians and Artist"s. This session has been cut down quite alot, as the gigs often last a
few hours, but the best bits are on the CD.
! The third dvd (yellow one), this contains a preview of a short documentary that Ioney Smallhorne is
working on. The Documentary is about Project S2DiO, when finished it will last approximately 20 minutes
long, this is only a 3 minute preview, so you can get a brief idea of the direction it is going in. Ioney is a
volunteer, we have been introduced to by an organization called “AMAB”. Her motivations to do this project
with us is to build and extend her portfolio and also to help us gain more creditably and attract new people.
We are also planning to do a screening for the documentary when it is finished, I will send an invitation for
yourselves if you would like to attend, even better if you would like to feature in the documentary that would
be great, I can arrange for Ioney to come out to you and do a brief interview, let me know about this one.
! In the monitoring report I also filled out the forms you have sent me, there are a few mistakes on the
expenditure table, you will have to forgive me for this. The expenditure breakdown is correct, this should help
you much more than the part I have written by hand.
! I have also created a graph, the development monitoring system we used to monitor the success of
our project, I have extracted all the data from this system from the last 6 months January - August and
compiled it a graph so it can be read. It contains all of the visits we have had at our facility with the details of
the visits, including;
- The individual/Group
- Their age
- Their Ethnicity
- Their Occupation
- The Activity they used the Studio for
- The number of visits over the last 6 months
! Hopefully this graph gives you a good insight into the success of the project, and the diversity of
people using our project. I have also used this data to help me fill out the Monitoring report form and the
LAA Outcome"s and Indicators form. This made it much easier for me to be able to do this, making the
results more accurate and reflective our the true success of our project.
The funded project came to end in September 2010 this is the letter to the Nottinghamshire Community Foundation confirmed the end of the project and giving a detailed monitoring report, evidencing how the project funding had been used and the success of the project.

By the end of the project we had gained much creditability throughout the local community and gained valuable statistics which reflect the potential and the work of the project. This is the expenditure breakdown of the grant, compiled by Yuefong Wong, Project S2Di0 Treasurer.
The next step for the project is to move into the social enterprise realm, we made contact with SEEM (Social Enterprise East Midlands), became members of their support organisation, they offer free course’s and workshops for developing Social Enterprise’s.
Melanie Jeff’s and Kathryn Walker from the NCVS suggested that we may want to be part of the National “Make a Difference Week”, we are to spend half a day with a Senior Councillor from the Nottingham City Council. The Councillor who we have been teamed for this event is Councillor Mellen.
