SENSIBILISATION

� The action of this project presents different steps

� This method aim to :– Help the development oh these actions by bringing them a technical

expertise :

• From the students of the Master in « Sustainable Development » in HEC

• From the consulting company in Sustainable Development : « BeCitizen »

– Promote these actions by presenting them to the « positive economy challenges » of HEC

– Globalize the existing solutions and use them for the one who need it

– Be a base to build a pedagogical support working on the essentials themesof the Sustainable Development

Our method

Solution : Introduce special seaweeds that eat pollution, produce oxygen, and grow up with the sun. The resultant water is not proper enough for being drunk but make possible the introduction of fishes. They eat seaweeds and the farmers can eat or sell them.

Problem : 5 miles away from Calcutta stands one of the most polluted wetland area of India

– Analyze globally the problem of the water in India

Environmental aspect : contrary to standard dams, the river is not fully deviated or stopped in its flow. This kind of project avoid the environmental and social damages caused by such a big hydro electrical project.

� Practical action : Micro Hydro power– Create energy from a river without put in danger its environment

Project : create « proper » electrical energy thanks to a river

� We will

– Meet the responsible of Practical Action in Peru in order to better understand their project

– Promote as much as possible this solution

– Understand why it is not more used regarding their world wide implantation

How does it work?Water from the river is channeled through a settling basin, which helps to remove sediment that could harm the turbine. The water then flows into the Forebay Tank where it is directed downhill through a pipe called a penstock. When the water reaches the bottom, it drives a specially designed turbine to produce the electricity.
