PROJECT 3RD EDITION PLACEMENT TEST Guidelines for teachers Project third edition entrance test verifies students’ general knowledge of vocabulary, grammar, functions and reading comprehension. The aim of the test is to give teacher information on which level of Project third edition it is appropriate to start with in each group – level 1 or level 2. The test has been written on the basis of the content in level 1 and the first three units of level 2 of Project third edition.

Administering the test and evaluation Please make sure your students sit comfortably and have no chance of copying answers from their colleagues. After you have handed out the tests to students, it is necessary to explain every task. The whole test should take no more than 30 minutes. You should give 1 point for each correct answer. The total number of points is 30.

While interpreting results of the tests, please use the following assumption: In the Grammar and Vocabulary the first 16 questions relate to level 1. A score of 15 and above on Grammar & Vocabulary and 3 and above for each of Reading, Listening and Writing makes a student suitable for Level 2.

For the tests as a whole, therefore, a score of 24 and above out of 40 makes a student suitable for Level 2.

I live in Witney. It’s near Oxford. It isn’t a very big town. There are about 40 shops in the town and there are two supermarkets. There are three banks and a post office, too. Oh, and of course a police station.

My house is in Church Lane. There’s a church at the end of the road and behind it there’s a farm museum.

There isn’t a cinema in Witney, but there are four in Oxford. There’s also a new sports centre. It’s great. There are four courts for badminton and two volleyball courts. I go swimming there too. It’s my favourite place.

My favourite café is Huffkins. It’s in the High Street.
