A document issued by the project initiator or

sponsor that formally authorizes the existence of a

project and provides the project manager with the

authority to apply organizational resources to

project activities.– PMBOK® Guide, 5th Edition


Project Description

• Briefly describe the final project product or

service

Create a new website for our business.

Create a new website that allows our customers to view the art that is

on display currently and allows them to connect directly with each

artist.


Business Justification

• Identify the business need that describes why the

project was selected; clarify how the situation will

improve when the project is completed

In order to differentiate ourselves from other art galleries in our marketplace, we

want to be able to have a more interactive website that allows customers to

browse all of the art on display as well as other pieces by the artist we support.

Giving the customer access to the artists directly will create a community around

our art gallery which should keep customers coming back for more.


Major Project Components

• List major subprojects, segments, or components

that make up the project work

1. Find a Hosted Solution

2. A main webpage for the gallery

3. Individual pages for each artist

4. A mechanism for customers to communicate to artists

5. A mechanism for customers to interact


Project Objectives & Deliverables

• Describe quantifiable criteria used to measure

completion of the project scope; define quality

criteria for product or service acceptance

1. By launch, a web page for every artist currently in the gallery

2. By launch, a way for customers to interact directly with artists and

other customers of the gallery


Constraints / Assumptions

• Identify limiting factors or underlying assumptions

regarding scope, cost, schedule, or quality

1. The hosted solution must cost no more than $500 per month

2. The hosted solution should be simple for the current gallery owners to update.

There is no plan to hire a webmaster at this time

3. Artists will be willing to interact with customers on the website community

1. Artists may not want to interact online which would

reflect poorly on the gallery

2. The hosted solution is too complicated for the gallery

owners to maintain
