SAP´s SolutionThe strategic blueprint covered the logistics processes ofsupply planning, procurement, sales & marketing and qualityassurance. Furthermore, financials & controlling and humancapital management processes were elaborated.For the setup of the new subsidiary, SAP recommended thepreconfigured industry solution SAP Best Practices forChemicals. It provided predefined, ready-available contentand configuration like process flow charts, blueprintdocuments, a preconfigured IT solution, forms, reports, etc.This content highly facilitated the design of processes andrealization of the IT solution, resulting in a significantlyreduced implementation time.

SAP´s ApproachA new polymer trading organization in East Asia was setup considering the specifics of downstream chemicalsbusiness, joint-ventures and third party distribution. As apreparation for the IT blueprint and realization, a strategicblueprint was conducted following SAP´s BusinessProcess Management methodology. In four phasescalibration, as-is analysis, to-be design and ITtransformation, the future process and solution landscapewas elaborated. The process design phase consideredparticularly the mapping with the industry solution SAPBest Practice for Chemicals in order to ensure leanbusiness processes and a standardized IT solution.
