Coastal Rainbow Trout and Redband Trout Distributions
Redband Trout Distribution and Status in the Owyhee Subbasin
Past Activities in the East Fork Owyhee River Basin
Grazing Practices Hatchery Releases
• Hatchery coastal rainbow trout stocked over a period of several decades
•Riparian corridors remained unprotected despite heavy grazing pressure
Goal: Preserve native redband trout populations in East Fork Owyhee River and its tributaries.
Objectives
• Evaluate the genetic variation within and among putative native redband trout populations from 14 locations in the upper East Fork Owyhee River watershed
• Evaluate whether Fx progeny from events of introgression between hatchery rainbow trout and native redband trout or subsequent introgressed generations are present in 14 locations in the upper East Fork Owyhee River watershed
Location of Upper East Fork Owyhee River Collection Sites
