All but four of the soldier piles are currently installed and a portion of the top row of tiebacks. Terracon has assumed the role of engineer of record for completion of the shoring under contract to Malcolm Drilling, the shoring contractor who will complete the construction of the shoring walls. The internal bracing, which the top row is installed, will remain unchanged. Terracon independently checked the bracing design and take no exception. Two corner braces were added where tiebacks where lower to avoid utility conflicts, which over stressed two of the soldier pile. In addition, the existing waler design by Degenkolb to support the large utility vault on the south east wall was redesigned as steel strapping for constructability purpose. In addition, lower of the tiebacks also a group of soldier piles along the south east shoring wall which required adding steel to the face of the pile to provide an adequate beam section. All soldier piles use wood lagging. Attached are the calculations for the shoring wall for the 1200 Stewart Project located at 1200 Stewart Street, Seattle, Washington. OBJECTIVE Design soldier pile sections and tiebacks for the north, northeast, northwest, southwest, and southeast shoring walls GIVENS

• Lateral Earth Pressures o “Geotechnical Engineering Services, Seattle, Washington for Project Stewart, LLC.” Dated

October 24, 2016 by Geoengineers.

• Materials: 50 ksi yield strength of steel.

• For multiple rows of tiebacks, the apparent EP is 22H psf truncated at top and bottom 0.2H.

• Allowable passive pressure is 400 psf x D disregarding the upper 2 feet, acting over 2.5 x the pile diameter.

• Allowable vertical resistance: 40ksf end bearing, 1.5 ksf skin friction for embedment portion of the soldier piles.

• Minimum solder pile embedment of 10 feet per the recommendations in the geotechnical report.

ASSUMPTIONS

• On the order of about 1-inch or less of deflection at the top of the pile.

• Maximum 2 foot of over excavation to install each tieback to downstage/upstage.

• Traffic surcharge of 60 psf uniform lateral pressure, acting to a depth of 15 feet per recommendations of the geotechnical report, were applied on the southeast wall at the vault location.

• Construction surcharge of 120 psf uniform lateral pressure, acting to a depth of 15 feet per recommendations of the geotechnical report, was applied at all walls, but southeast at the location of the vault.

• Allowable tieback bond of 4 kips/ft to 6 kips/ft. Secondary pressure grouting of the tieback bond zone will be required to achieve the design tieback bond. Bond stress will need to be verified in the field with 200% verification test.

ANALYSIS Analysis performed using Shoring Suite V8 by CivilTech Software. Output is attached. For a 2-foot diameter drilled shaft, in a 50 feet high wall and a minimum embedment of 10 feet, the vertical resistance is: (1.0 ft)2 * π * 40 ksf + 10 ft * 2 ft * π * 1.5 ksf + 50 ft * π * 1.0 * 1.5 ksf = 455 kips Per the geotechnical report, 4-inch lagging is sufficient for all soldier pile sections, which as spaced less than 9 feet on center.

RESULTS North Wall: The maximum downward force occurs at piles N-40 to N-43, in a 7-tieback configuration system. The maximum downward force is 250.2 kips which is less than the geotechnical capacity of 455 kips for a 50 feet wall piles with 10 feet embedment. Northeast Wall: The maximum downward force occurs at piles NE-6 to NE-8, in a 6-tieback configuration system. The maximum downward force is 444.8 kips which is less than the geotechnical capacity of 455 kips for a 50 feet wall piles with 10 feet embedment. Southeast Wall: The maximum downward force occurs at piles SE-14A to SE-14B, in a 5-tieback configuration system. The maximum downward force is 183.2 kips which is less than the geotechnical capacity of 455 kips for a 50 feet wall piles with 10 feet embedment. Southwest Wall: The maximum downward force occurs at piles SW-12 in a 5-tieback configuration system. The maximum downward force is 285.5 kips which is less than the geotechnical capacity of 455 kips for a 50 feet wall piles with 10 feet embedment. Northwest Wall: The maximum downward force occurs is 64.6 kips which is less than the geotechnical capacity of 455 kips for a 50 feet wall piles with 10 feet embedment. The soldier pile analysis outputs are attached.

OBJECTIVE Design strapping to hold the electrical vaults located between soldier piles SE-14A/B and SE017A/B (both are double soldier piles). Interim cantilever piles are currently installed in front of the vault to support the vault to allow for the installation of steep strapping to support the vault and earth pressures. The vault will be under pinned with four piles, SE-15A to SE-16b. GIVENS

• Lateral Earth Pressures o “Geotechnical Engineering Services, Seattle, Washington for Project Stewart, LLC.” Dated

October 24, 2016 by Geoengineers.

• Materials: 50 ksi yield strength of steel.

• For multiple rows of tiebacks, the apparent EP is 22H psf truncated at top and bottom 0.2H.

• Allowable passive pressure is 400 psf x D disregarding the upper 2 feet, acting over 2.5 x the pile diameter.

• Allowable vertical resistance: 40ksf end bearing, 1.5 ksf skin friction for embedment portion of the soldier piles.

• Minimum solder pile embedment of 10 feet per the recommendations in the geotechnical report.

• Three ½-inch thick steel straps spanning between soldier piles SE-14A/B and SE-17A/B

• 29.5 foot span between soldier piles SE-14A/B and SE-17A/B

• Soldier pile SE-14A/B and SE-17A/B are double with tieback in between, there the section modulus is 2 x 134 in^3 = 268 in^3 or a moment of inertia = 2220 in^4.

ASSUMPTIONS

• On the order of about 1-inch or less of deflection at the top of the pile.

• Maximum 2 foot of over excavation to install each tieback to downstage/upstage.

• Traffic and construction surcharge of 60 psf uniform pressure acting to a depth of 15 feet per recommendations of the geotechnical report.

• Tieback bond of 4 kips/ft to 5.5 kips/ft. Secondary pressure grouting of the tieback bond zone will be required to achieve the tieback bond.

ANALYSIS Analysis performed using Shoring Suite V8 by CivilTech Software to determine the loading above the underpinning piles and to determine the applied load to soldier piles SE-14A/B and SE-17A/B. Output is attached. Based on the loads determined by the shoring runs, the required strap width and welds sized as follows. Loads at the underpinning piles spaced 6 feet on center, assuming the extend to the top of the vault, are as follows: 3 feet in depth = 10.1 kips 6 feet in depth = 11.4 kips 9 feet in depth = 44.6 kips

Total load per strap is 4 x times the load at each pile as follows: 3 feet in depth = 40.4 kips 6 feet in depth = 45.6 kips 9 feet in depth = 178.4 kips Half of the load is transferred to each of soldier pile SE-14A/B and half to SE-17A/B as follows: 3 feet in depth = 20.2 kips 6 feet in depth = 22.8 kips 9 feet in depth = 89.2 kips Design strap width.
