1. All exhibits must be bona-fide property ofthe Exhibitor. In the case of the Farm andGarden produce exhibits, they must begrown by the Exhibitor, and in the case oflive stock, must be bona-fide property ofthe Exhibitor since 1st May 2012.

2. The judges decision as to merit shall befinal and objections on other points mustbe lodged with the Secretary, in writing, ondate of show and must be accompanied bya fee of €10. All objections will be decidedby the committee and the fee returnedunless the objection is consideredfrivolous.

3. Where age is a qualification, the committeemay in any case direct an examination bythe V.S. The committee shall hear anysubmissions by the exhibitor and shall thendecide the matter and the decision shall befinal.

4. The term ‘committee’ in these rules meansthe group consisting of a Chairman,Secretary, one Treasurer, one ViceChairman and P.R.O., or any four of them.

5. The judges are empowered to with-holdprizes in any class where there is notsufficient competition or merit, andfurthermore not to award a Second Prizeunless there are three or more exhibits, andnot to award a Third Prize unless there arefive or more exhibits in any class.

6. All cups and perpetual trophies won byexhibitors at 2011 show must be returnedto the Secretary, 3 weeks prior to the 2012show. Each recipient must sign a formaccepting responsibility for cups ortrophies before same are presented at 2012show.

7. The winners of a first prize in a class willnot be eligible to compete in another classunless it is classed ‘Special Class’.

8. The Show Yard opens at 9.30 a.m.Livestock and exhibits must be presentedby 11.00 a.m. Exhibits for produce must bepresented by 12 noon. Exhibits must not beremoved from Show Yard before 4.00 p.m.Judging commences at times stated inschedule.

9. Entries in all classes close on June 26th2012. The declaration on the entry formmust be signed by the exhibitor and mustbe accompanied by the correct entry form,otherwise entry will not be accepted.

10. The committee will not be responsible forloss or accident of any kind which mayoccur to exhibitors, exhitits, visitors,spectators or otherwise.

11. The committee requests exhibitors to sendin their entries as clearly as possible.

12. Should any matter arise not provided for inthe purview of these rules and regulations,the same shall be referred to the ExecutiveCommittee, whose decision shall be final,from which there shall be no appeal andentries are only accepted on theseconditions.

13. All foals must be haltered and led in theShow Grounds and during classes.

14. In order to finance current and futuredevelopment, the National Executive of theIrish Shows Association have placed a‘Championship Fund’ levy of 5c in €1 onall prize winners in the Horse sections.This fund will be deducted from the prizemoney to be paid out in this sections.

15. All animals must be shown at owners riskand in that regard owners are advised toensure that they have adequate insurancecover.

16. Exhibitors of the Home Produce Sectionare not allowed in the Shed/Hall whileJudging is in progress.

The Championship is confined to Registered Connemara Pony Mares four years

old and upwards with foal at foot only. 2. In designated qualifying shows mares placed first in each class four years old and

upwards with foal at foot will qualify for the championship final.3. All mare and foal classes including the 60/40 classes at designated qualifying

shows are deemed qualifiers.4. In qualifying shows where a 3 to 4 year old class is combined and is won by a

three-year-old pony then the pony placed second in the class can be the qualifying pony provided she is four years old with foal at foot. No pony placed below second to her is deemed to be the qualifying pony.

5. Where a pony is placed first at a show and has already qualified at another show then the pony placed second or third to her is deemed to be the qualifying pony.

6. If a class for mares with or without foal at foot is won by a dry mare then the highest placed pony to her qualifies provided she has a foal at foot and is placed second or third.

7. Where the first two ponies in a qualifying class have already qualified at another show then the third placed pony, provided she has a foal at foot will qualify.

8. Each pony selected at qualifying shows will receive a special Red mills finalist Rosette and thereafter are eligible to compete in the Midlands Connemara Pony Breeders Show at Mullingar Equestrian Centre on Sunday July 22nd 2012.

qualifiers. This rule may be waived by the Show Committee in exceptional circumstances e.g. sale of pony of injury of rider prior to final. Permission from the Oughterard Show Committee must be granted prior to any previously qualified pony or rider competing in subsequent qualifying rounds. Failure to do so will result in the entry not being accepted.

5. On completion of judging at Qualifiers the successful qualifier will be given all relevant entry documentation by the ring steward. This must be completed and returned, along with appropriate fee, to the secretary of the Oughterard Show within 7 days – this rule will be strictly adhered to.

6. The Connemara Passport of each pony must be presented prior to judging at the qualifying show and on the day of the Final

7. The rider must be 18 years on the 1st of January 2012. Birth Certificates must be produced for inspection at qualifying rounds and on the day of the final.

8. Registered Connemara Stallions must be ridden by rider over 14 years and under 18 years on 1st of January 2012.

9. Ponies must be registered in the Main Connemara Studbook.10. Jumping over plain rustic fences will be part of the qualifying rounds and final.

Qualifying rounds require 2 fences. The final requires 4 fences. Jumps should not exceed 90cms in height and 90cms in width. Entrants from shows who not adhere to this rule will not be accepted.

11. Ponies to be ridden in a Plain Snaffle, Pelham or Double Bridle. Boots are allowed for the jumping phase only, and must be removed prior to the in-hand or Flat Sections. Martingales and spurs are prohibited.

12. A performance judge must be used at qualifying shows.13. Ponies will be judged on type, Confirmation, Jumping Technique, way of going

and action in-hand.14. Random Dope testing may be carried out on the day of the final.15. Any objection must be lodged in writing with the show secretary within half an

hour following the completion of the competition, together with €50, which is refundable in the event of the objection being upheld.

16. The Oughterard Show committee in consultation with the sponsor, reserves the right to amend the rules as may be deemed necessary.
