Liane Hansen, who was the Weekend Edition Sunday host for nearly 22 years, announced her retirement last year and broadcast her final program on May 29. Cornish, who came to NPR in 2005, has reported from Capitol Hill, covering both the House and Senate. She was on the campaign trail during the 2008 presidential election and had a featured role in coverage of the Democratic National Convention in Denver that year.

Consuming the labor of entire towns, sometimes taking a hundred years to build, these architectural masterpieces were crafted from just hand tools and stone. NOVA’s teams perform hands-on experiments to investigate and reveal the architectural cathedral builders’ secrets.
