WHAT IS ACASA? The ACASA or the Academic Congress of the Asian Shoulder Association is a triennial meeting of shoulder surgeons, which serves as a forum where advances in the science of shoulder surgery in the East and West are showcased. The congress offers a multitude of comprehensive scientific discussions through plenary lectures, scientific research podium presentations and poster presentations. Among the topics included in the academic congress include basic science and biomechanics, advances in arthroscopic techniques, shoulder instability and rotator cuff lesions.
The first academic congress was held in Taipei, Taiwan sometime November 1994, a little over a year after the Asian Shoulder Association was formally established. Since its initial holding in Taiwan, the congress has been held in different member countries includingAustralia (1996), Indonesia (1999), South Korea (2002), China (2005), Hong Kong (2008) and most recently in Japan (2011). On November 25-26, 2014, the Philippines will be hosting the 8th Academic Congress of the Asian Shoulder Association in Cebu, Philippines.
