TICKETS ON SALE FROM 12TH SEPTEMBER TILL SOLD OUT
Mildura Rural City Council extends an invitation to all citizens 55 years and over to attend events celebrating the 2016 Victorian Seniors Festival.
This year, in Sunraysia, events will be held from 2th - 9th October.
Tickets will be available from the following venues from the12th of September till sold out.

PLEASE NOTE: Timetables are available when you purchase your tickets and show approximate times only. Passengers should be at the bus stop 10 minutes prior to scheduled time.
Sunraysia Bus Lines have partnered with us to offer Seniors FREE bus travel from the 2– 9 October on all their bus routes.
Simply show your Victorian Seniors Card when you catch the appropriate bus at your nearest bus stop.
Most festival events will be held at locations on or close to the normal bus route, so it is simply a matter of getting off the bus at the appropriate stop.
V/Line economy class transport is also free from the 3rd to 6th, 8th and 9th of October, (not including Friday 7th October). Call 1800 800 007
Some events have special transport arrangements, please check the program for relevant details.
Should you have special needs, alternate transportation may be arranged. Please discuss your requirements with staff at time of booking.

Millewa Pioneer Park will provide transport to their Open Day, where you will experience a great program of country music and old farming skills displays and a display on the history of the buildings. There will be hot scones cooked in the bakers oven available for purchase and lunch provided

Come and join us for a world tour of food and colour. The student chefs will be preparing a tasty meal with an international theme and table service will be provided by the hospitality students who are studying at SuniTAFE. There will also be multicultural entertainment on the day.

Please be aware there is a walk of approximately 150 meters from the car park to the restaurant on level ground. There will be a set menu of multicultural food, tea and coffee on offer for lunch. Drinks at bar prices.

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon tea and cruise down the Murray River on the beautiful Paddle Vessel Rothbury.
The Rothbury was built in 1881 as a tow boat, and was brought to Mildura in 1909. In 1968 she was purchased for restoration for the tourist trade. The Rothbury has won the last four National Paddleboat Challenge Cups and is known as the ‘Greyhound of the River’ due to her sleek hull design.
Time: Boarding at 2:15pm
Launch at 2:30pm sharp
Returns at 4:30pm

Enjoy a delicious 2 course meal, including tea/coffee with entertainment by Chris Street. Chris is a solo entertainer who specialises in Golden Oldies that will live forever. From the Rock’n’Roll days of the 50’s through 60’s 70’s and 80’s along with great country ballads and easy listening music. From the sounds of the classic hits of Elvis, Roy Orbison, JOK, Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, Slim Dusty, to ballads from Jack-Scott, Marty Robbins, Burl Ives, Jim Reaves and Alan Jackson, and rare compilations from the 1950’s & 60’s

Faye Mannes presentation is about the Galápagos Islands which are off the coast of South America near the Equator. Made famous by Charles Darwin in his studies on different species and how they evolved and his theory on Evolution.

Sunraysia Community Health Service Central Walking group welcomes all new walkers for indoor walking. The walking group celebrated its 10th
birthday in August and members range in age from 23 to 91. Some walk 1 lap, some walk 10 laps but most people stay for a cuppa and a chat.
So come along to Mildura Central on the corner of 15th Street and Deakin Ave and give it a go, you might find you love it.
Time: 7:45 am Registration at the Mildura Central Food Court, 8am - 9am Walking

Visit the Mildura Eco Village – the tour will provide an opportunity to enjoy a free morning tea while being guided around the Village. The tour includes access to the sustainable Education Centre and retrofitted Eco House, a short walk to the Solar Distillation Demonstration site and a wander through the onsite Community Gardens.
Please be aware there is uneven ground and steps to be managed to access all areas.
Car parking is available to the left of Mildura Eco Village sign. Head towards the complex gate and you will be met by staff.
Time: 10am to 12pm
Venue: 15 Scherger Drive adjacent to the landfill, opposite the Mildura Base Hospital, Ontario Avenue

Trace the story of how Mildura became an irrigated oasis in the midst of an arid land.
You will meet the bus at the home of WB Chaffey, Rio Vista and hear about the Chaffey Brothers vision for the Mildura region. We will then travel via the river front to Psyche Pumps for a special guided tour, followed by a visit to Chateau Mildura for afternoon tea and maybe a tasting of some of the locally produced wine. Back on the bus for a drive to the Merbein Rotary Lookout to appreciate the history to be told at this site for you to and enjoy the view!
For those interested there are 132 steps down to the new Blandowski Walk. We then return to Rio Vista.

An opportunity to enjoy a free afternoon tea at Lower Murray Water while learning about their lovely water wise gardens. In addition to guest speakers, giveaways and ‘lucky door’ prizes on offer, you will be able to discuss water wise plant selections for a dry climate, optimizing your water use in the garden and mulching options.

SCOTLAND
Scotland has so much to recommend it. It has its own history, a geography unlike the rest of Britain, a culture which its inhabitants mention with justifiable pride, tourism locations that have always been a terrific draw, a vast number of famous former and current inhabitants. Though the weather can be somewhat bracing, it has a habit of surprising all of us. This session shall examine its history, its famous people and much else.

Acknowledged by many as the act that single-handedly shaped modern Australian country music by infusing his influences of John Mellencamp, The Band and The Angels with the storytelling ethos of Slim Dusty and his lyrical insight, sharp wit and empathy for the average working man. This combined with his handsome good looks and country charm ensured there was no stopping his success across all demographics.

Come and enjoy a day at the movies with a movie time snack and a light luncheon prepared by the Parents Association of the Ouyen P12 School.
"Oddball" is the heart-warming true story about an eccentric chicken farmer (Shane Jacobson) who, with the help of his granddaughter, trains his mischievous dog to protect a wild penguin sanctuary from fox attacks and in the process tries to reunite his family and save their seaside town.
