Guys and Dolls in Concert
Act INicely-Nicely Johnson, Benny Southstreet, and Rusty Charlie argue over which horse will win a big race. Nicely and Benny’s boss, Nathan, runs a gambling ring for rich people, where they have to have at least $1000 to place a bet. Since Nathan has no money, he makes a bet with Sky Masterson that if Sky can take the girl that Nathan chooses out to dinner in Havana, Cuba, Nathan will pay Sky $1000. Nathan is SURE that Sky will lose. Sky takes the bet, and Nathan chooses Sarah Brown as the girl that Sky must get to go with him to Havana. To Nathan’s surprise, Sky is able to get Sarah to agree to go with him to Cuba, and they end up falling in love. In the middle of all this, Nathan’s fiancee sings about how long they’ve been together without him marrying her. The audience finds out that they’ve been engaged for 14 years! While Sarah and Sky are in Cuba, Nathan runs a gambling ring in Sarah’s office Act IISarah admits to Arvide she loves Sky, but won’t see Sky because she thinks he ran the gambling ring that took place in her office. Sky tries to tell Sarah that he had nothing to do with it, but she doesn’t believe him. He tells her that he will bring 12 gamblers to her work the next day to prove to her that he’s a new man. Arvide tells Sky that he hopes it works. In an attempt to get all the gamblers, Sky bets each of them $1000. If he wins (and they lose), they have to come with him to Sarah’s office where she will help them not be gamblers anymore. If the gamblers win, Sky will pay each of them $1000 and leave them alone. Watch the show to find out what happens!
