The main focus of this years workshop will be on innovations in urology. We will demonstrate state of the art medical technology and surgical methods from the areas of endourology, laparosco-py, urogynocology, and andrology.The program of the workshop will be completed by a number of presentations regarding uro-oncology, background information and plenty of time for discussion. The workshop will cover different points of emphasis to address issues concerning experienced surgeons, residents and our col-leagues in outpatient care.

it is my pleasure and honor to welcome you to this years work-shop „ Innovation in Urology” at St. Elisabeth Hospital in Leipzig.

Innovation means: reform, improvement and renewal. It means to put in question established knowledge and practices and to ask: “ What can we do better, where can we improve?” This way new ideas are developed and over time can be implemented to replace or improve the things we do today.Innovations have to be carefully reviewed and assessed regar-ding their safety and efficiency and all consequences have to be weighed. Only after this can we implement new practices and be certain that another step has been taken towards the optimal treatment of our patients.

I rest assured that you have come here with great enthusiasm and interest in innovations in urology. This in conjunction with our shared obligation to the improvement of diagnostic and the-rapeutic measures should make this workshop a great success.

I hope you will find a pleasant atmosphere with fruitful exchange of experiences and constructive conversation that will contribute to new ideas and innovative projects in urology.

For the duration of the workshop you will have the opportunity to take part in hands-on training using the TUR-, URS-, PCNL- and Laparoscopy-Trainers kindly providid by Samed-Medizintechnik DresdenThere will also be a TUR-Trainer supplied by Erbe spe-cifically designed to learn the Hybridknife-Technique in resection of bladder carcinoma.
