A Weekend Review at Lake Geneva October 5 – 7 There is explosive growth taking place in the diagnosis and treatment modalities of cardiovascular disease. This is creating an exciting but challenging situation for medical teams taking care of patients with cardiovascular disease. The purpose of this conference is to distill the needed information in a manner that can be applied to clinical practice. The scope of the program is broad and will cover a wide spectrum of diseases, ranging from ischemic heart disease to cardiovascular health. Participants will have ample time to discuss topics with individual faculty members. Learning methods will include didactic lectures and Q & A panel discussions. No hands- on demonstrations will be provided. Detailed syllabus materials will be provided. Learning objectives At the end of this conference, participants should be better able to: • Summarize the latest diagnostic and management strategies for patients with valvular heart disease, including percutaneous valve repair/replacement • Integrate guidelines for optimal timing of intervention in valvular heart disease • Recognize newer concepts in management of heart failure, including role of LVADs • Define current controversies and unmet needs in pharmacologic management of heart failure • Differentiate features of constriction from restriction • Diagnose and treat hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and non-compaction cardiomyopathy • Define latest management issues in STEMI and NSTEMI • Describe antiplatelet agents and the role they play in ischemic heart disease • Explain pros and cons of PFO closure • Describe pathophysiology and management of AF • Identify with the indications of ICD implantation Intended audience This conference is intended for cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, fellows in training, general internists, family practitioners and allied health personnel with a cardiovascular interest.
