Fellow. President Rick announced reminders to pick up your Roster if you haven’t already, and that Meals On Wheels Needs a Driver for the first Wednesday and the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Rod Pirtle introduced today’s speaker Larry James, President and CEO of Central Dallas Ministries. He began with a short video about the housing for the homeless organized by CDM. He said that CDM has been involved with supported housing for about four years. They received a HUD Grant for fifty units to house disabled, homeless people. They pro-vided case managers who focused on treating people with respect and friendship, by regar-ding them and their circumstances not as a problem, but as an opportunity for service and kindness. They had great results. They have only one rule for their tenants aside from meeting the HUD requirements; that is, “Be a good neighbor.” They provide support and help, but there are no other requirements. The whole idea that people can start over is a pow-erful one. Research has shown that 87% of people on the street would stabilize largely on their own if they only had supported housing. He believes that people do not need CDM, they need a chance to start over with a little help and support. Research has also shown that permanent supported housing does not reduce property values in the neighborhood. Actually, placing tenants of permanent sup-ported housing in a forty-year old apartment complex will stabilize the complex.

be remembered this week. Hoyt Neal led “The Star Spangled Banner,” fol-lowed by “Are You Lonesome To-night?” John Gil-christ introduced our visitors and

guests. Dax Seale recogniz-ed The Hub and the web advertisers of the week. Bill Clark reported on the RCPC Foundation and re-

marked that he hoped the mem-bers with names starting with “R” would be donating more than the members with “P” names had so far; however, both were outdone by Hoyt Neal whose donation of $750 instan-taneously made him a Frank Monroe Fellow.

President Rick awarded a grant from the RCPC Foun-dation to Dorothy Botnick of SMU’s Perkins School of The-ology. She said that the grant would go to their programs that supports students from high

Redneck Humor  Three Rednecks were working on a cell phone tower, Billy Bob, Jim Bob, and Bubba. As they start their descent down the tower, Billy Bob slips, falls off the tower and is killed instantly. As the ambulance takes the body away, Jim Bob says, "Well, durn, someone should go and tell his wife." Bubba says, "OK, I'm pretty good at that sensitive stuff; I'll do it." Two hours later, he comes back carrying a case of Budweiser. Jim Bob says, "Where did you get that beer, Bubba?" "Billy Bob's wife gave it to me," Bubba replies. " Huh? You told the lady her husband was dead and she gave you
