    dear colleagues, dear friends

We are pleased to invite you to the third edition of the Fokus herz Bern cardiology symposium on march 22nd, 2019 in Bern, which once again, is being organized by the Kardiologische gemeinschaftspraxis in Bern in partnership with the department of cardiology at Inselspital Bern. due to the number of international speakers, and in order to render the meeting attractive for our French and Italian speaking colleagues, we have decided to hold the meeting in english. This meeting is meant to act as a teaching, educational and exchange platform for internists, general practitioners and cardiologists working in a private practice or hospital environment. Together with all of you, we hope to continue this established tradition of providing an attractive and interesting cardiology meeting in Bern.

Following an enriching experience during the former meetings held in 2017 and 2018, we are convinced that the scientific committee has once more designed an engaging program, covering current topics in cardiology. The meeting content will be provided by a highly qualified faculty, including both european opinion leaders, as well as swiss nationwide and local faculty who have established themselves as recognized specialists in their fields of interests. The first morning session focuses on risk factors and athero-sclerosis. discussion time will address the 2018 esc/ehc hypertension guidelines, the optimal cholesterol lowering targets and hot issues in both diagnostic work-up and treatment of coronary artery disease. during the arrhythmias session, we will learn about the latest developments in the field of atrial fibrillation and stroke prevention along with updates from the acc 2019. discussions will consider difficult topics that are at the crossroads of arrhythmias and heart failure. In the third block, prominent faculty will focus on new aspects in the diagnosis and treatment of valvular disease. The final session is dedicated to challenging new issues in heart failure, including discussions on the management of hFpeF, cardiooncologic issues, new aspects in amyloidosis and pulmonary embolism.

The Keynote lecture on “Intersections between diabetes and heart Failure” will be delivered by John mcmurray from glasgow, the well-known leading specialist in heart failure.

    Welcome
