UMBC Recommended Pathway for DoD 8570.1
DoD 8570.1
Rationale for UMBC TC RecommendedCertification Pathway to obtain completecertification from entry level to IASAE is as follows:
• It relies on only five (5) certifications (A+, Network+, Security+, CEH, CISSP) to cover all but two of the cells in the 8570 Certification Table.
• Only one additional certification (ISSAM/ISSEP/ISSAP)(for which the others are pre-requisite) is required to satisfy theremaining two cells (IASAE and CND SP Manager)

UMBC TC RecommendedCertification Pathway
• Most of the individual certifications satisfy several categories and/or levels on the 8570 Certification Table.
• These 5 certifications are the most widely recognized by industry and government, and therefore the most widely sought after by employees to advance their careers.
• These 5 certifications offer corporations the best opportunity to achieve economies of scale, significantly lower costs, and reduce the time required to achieve broad certification percentage requirements.
