Page 8: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Site Orientation In the upper right corner of your portfolio,

you should see the following string of icons/buttons:

Page 9: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Site Orientation This is the

“edit page” button. You will become very familiar with this button as it will be used every time that you write in, edit, or upload documents to your portfolio.

This is the “New Page” button. You most likely will not be using this button for the first couple of years as the template created for you has pages created for your 3 annual goals for two years. If you choose to have more goals/outcomes, then this will be the button to begin that process. Note: There is a link on your profile page that provides directions on how to create new pages.

Page 10: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Site Orientation This is a

button that you will rarely (if ever) use. It allows you to manage your different aspects of your site. You can click on it to see what those things are.

The “Share” button is what you will use to allow other people to view and/or comment on your portfolio.

Note: There is a series of slides later in this presentation entitled “How Do I Share My TEP?”, which will give you directions on this process.

Page 11: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Site Orientation You should see this column on the

left side of your screen. When you drag your cursor over

each line, you will notice that the words become hi-lighted and the select hand appears. By selecting one of the lines (ie: Student Goal under the TEP 2013-2014), you will have access to that page. The template page for that page appears and you will be able to use the template to add text and to upload supporting documents in the future using the “edit page” button .

Page 12: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Site Orientation The “My Profile” page is a

place to:

Personalize with a picture, Add your resume, State what school you

teach at and what you teach,

Access the link which shows you how to create new pages.

your template: Example:

Page 14: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Site Orientation The “TEP 2013-2014”

page is where you list the names of your TEP Team (and other stuff if you want).

The “Student Goal” page is where you will type your student goal for this school year.

The “Teacher Goal” and “Prof (professional) Goal” pages are where you type those for this school year.

Page 15: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

your template: Example:

Page 16: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Site Orientation You may have noticed that page titles of

the template and the example were different…..

VS.

I will show you later (in the Renaming a Page section) how to change the title of any pages. It will involve the “edit page” button.

Page 17: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Site Orientation You will not access this block of

pages this year as this year’s information will be entered in the TEP 2013-2014 block of pages.

You could add in your TEP information from last year, or rename it to “TEP 2014-2015” and you will have it ready for next year.

Each subsequent year, you will “add” new pages to your portfolio and the column on the left will display them….think of it as a file cabinet.

Page 18: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Site Orientation The “IPDP” block of pages

is the place where you would fill in your IPDP information. Check out the pages. You will notice that they match up with IPDP documents that you should be familiar with. The “IPDP 2013-2020” page can be renamed to fit the years that you are licensed for (Ex: “IPDP 2008-2015).

Page 19: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Site Orientation The “IPLP 2013-2020”

block has been created with the new relicensing documents and information that have been provided to date. As with previous pages, this page, too, can be renamed to fit the years that will apply to you.

a very similar process to the steps that you went through in renaming a page in the last section. The following slides will provide you with the directions and steps to do so.

As an example, you will be shown the steps to adding and changing text in one of the goal areas.

Page 34: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Editing a Page Note #1: When you first put in your goals,

you will only have to fill in the goal/outcome itself and the evidence gathering plan. The results/evidence and supporting reflection will be entered into your portfolio at a later date (using the same editing process).

Note #2: You can “cut & paste” text from outside Word documents to your TEP pages.

Note #3: ALWAYS REMEMBER TO “SAVE” AFTER EDITING OR ADDING TEXT.

Adding Files/Uploading Documents

There will be times that you may want to add files to your portfolio. This will most often occur when you want to provide evidence (student work, videos, lesson plans, reflections, observation notes, etc…) to support your TEP goals. The next set of slides will provide examples and the steps to upload those supporting documents.

The next slide illustrates different types of files that were uploaded for evidence (Word documents, PDF, Timeliner files, JPG). This is only a sample of the types of files that you can upload,

How Do People Make Comments On My TEP?

Part of the TEP evaluation process is for the members of your TEP team to approve your annual goals at the beginning of the year and at the end when the teacher presents their reflection and evidence.

The “Comment” boxes allow for members of your team to electronically sign-off/approve on each goal.

It also is a place where members of your team can offer suggestions, provide support, and exchange ideas with you, which offers an opportunity for back-and-forth dialogue.

Page 73: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

How Do People Make Comments On My TEP?

The “Comment” box is located at the bottom of each page.

Page 74: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

How Do People Make Comments On My TEP?

Simply type your comment/response in the box and click on the blue comment button when complete.

The owners page will show the name of the person who made the comments and the date & time of the post.

How Do People Make Comments On My TEP?

NOTE: If someone on your team informs you that they do not have the option or ability to comment on your page, you will need to go back to the permissions page via the share button….Refer back to slides 36-41 for directions. You will need to be sure that your team have the “can edit” selected by their name.

Where Do People Find My TEP? The final area to cover in the instructional

lesson is to answer the question about where exactly will members of your TEP team (and anyone else that you give access) locate your TEP.

Once the TEP has been shared, people whom you have shared it with will receive notice via email.

Page 79: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Where Do People Find My TEP? I find all of my teacher's portfolios on Google Sites. To get

there you need to be logged in to your google account first and then go to the general google page that looks like this:

Page 80: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Where Do People Find My TEP? At the top of the page, click on “More”. A list

will appear and on the bottom of the list you will see the words “Even More”. Select that. You will then see a page that looks like this:

Where Do People Find My TEP? Scroll down the page and you will eventually

see “Sites” on the right side column. Select that.

Page 82: PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO CREATION

Where Do People Find My TEP? When you select “sites”, you should get a

screen that has any portfolios that have been shared with you, as well as your own, listed. My sites screen looks like this:

That concludes the tutorial. I hope that it has been of assistance and clear. If not, or if you still have questions, contact me (Andre Messier), or Rick Kelley.
