As you plan, consider ways that you and other teachers can collaborate.

Excellent teachers—

• Must know the subject matter well and be passionate about it. Without mastery and clarity of thought, it would be difficult to explain clearly to students.

• Are able to relate the subject matter and demonstrate its relevance to students.

• Arouse the students' interest in the subject matter.

• Help students interact with the subject matter and learn for themselves.
