ICT Internship Project
Semester 1, 2015
ICT Internship Project
> Exciting opportunity to undertake a project in a real workplace, as part of your Masters Degree
> Placements are supervised by a workplace professional and a Swinburne academic, this unit will allow you to:
– apply your practical skills and theoretical knowledge in an IT industry context
– develop your understanding of IT business processes & structures and
– establish contacts in the IT industry
ICT Internship Project
> Internships run in each semester period in March-May and August-October.
> The unit involves regular weekly classroom activities and a project activity undertaken at an industry site for two days per week over a semester (three months).
> The unit is credit baring and has the following assessment items:
– Work log to be filled out every week
– Time sheet when students are at the work place
– Project presentation at host organisation
– Software requirements specification document (for ICT80004 only)
– Report and project deliverables to the host organisation
Eligibility for ICT Internship Project
> Be in the final semester of an approved degree
> Maintain at least a credit average
> Complete the Professional Employment Program (PEP)
> Submit a formal application to undertake an interview
> Attend a Swinburne interview
> Be available to undertake an interview with the host organisation in the 3 weeks prior to commencing next semester
> Have strong communication skills as well as having technical and theoretical knowledge applicable to the ICT industry

> Master of Information Technology
> Master of Information Technology (Professional Computing)
> Master of Information Technology Project Management
> Master of Technology (IT)
> Master of Science (Network Systems)
> Master of Engineering Science (Network Systems & Telecommunications)
> Master of Information Technology Business Analysis
Selection Process for ICT Internship Project
> Swinburne interviews: 1-5 December 2014
> Industry interviews (timings are flexible): 9-27 February 2015
> This is a competitive process – at no stage of the application process are positions guaranteed.
> 30-40 students each semester
> Host organisations have the final say
> Organisations will choose applicants who they believe are the best fit for the positions on offer, the same as would occur for a general job application process.
> Preparing for your interview is vital to securing a position make use of the Careers service and practice the STAR technique
