Our prin- cipal guest speakers this year are Professor Sarah E. Pinder, King’s College, London, U.K. and Dr. John K.C. Chan, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kowloon, Hong Kong. On Saturday, Professor Pinder will dis- cuss important issues in Breast Pathology. There will be lectures on “Molecular clas- sification of breast cancer – implications for pathologists” and “Diagnosis of intra- ductal proliferative lesions of the breast – biological implications” as well as a comprehensive slide seminar. Associate Professor David Ellis is this year’s Vincent McGovern Lecturer. Like last year’s speaker, Associate Professor Michael Bilous, David trained under Professor McGovern and his lecture “EBV virus - the enemy within” is not to be missed. The Master Classes are again a feature of this year’s meeting. These sessions, which are open to trainees and consult- ants alike, are excellent. Full details and online registration are available at our website: www. iap-aus.org.au Richard Jaworski, President Introducing the ASM Principal Invited Speakers Prof. Sarah Pinder S arah Pinder undertook her medi- cal degree at Manchester University, and following histopathology training and research in Nottingham, she became Senior Lecturer at Nottingham City Hospital Breast Unit. She was appointed as Consultant in Breast Pathology at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge in 2004. Her present position is at King’s College and Breast Research Unit, Guy’s Hospital, London. She serves on the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Breast Clinical Studies Group, the NICE Guideline Development Group – Early Breast Cancer, NHS BSP Pathology Coordinating Committee and the Sloane Project (NHS BSP DCIS audit) Steering Committee, amongst others. Her research interests are focused on precursor lesions and the molecular biol- ogy of breast cancer with emphasis on correlation of morphology, protein expres- sion and molecular features. She has pub- lished approximately 140 research articles in peer-reviewed literature, over 30 invited review articles and more than 30 chapters in medical textbooks. Dr. John Chan J ohn Chan graduated from Hong Kong University Medical School in 1981.He was trained at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Hong Kong, and did one year fellowship in the United States with Dr. Juan Rosai at Yale University and Dr. Ronald Dorfman at Stanford University. He is Consultant Pathologist of the Pathology Department in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Hong Kong. This is the largest hospital in Hong Kong with 1800 beds. The 36th Annual Scientific Meeting

Sarah Pinder undertook her medi-

cal degree at Manchester University,

and following histopathology training and

research in Nottingham, she became Senior

Lecturer at Nottingham City Hospital Breast

Unit. She was appointed as Consultant in

Breast Pathology at Addenbrooke’s Hospital,
