Commitment to ASPIRE
She has always believed in helping the financially challenged and in her endeavour to do that her
commitment and Vision as President of ASPIRE is to help the underdeveloped countries in the region
the help of the developed countries and thus a network is being developed keeping this in mind and
fertility society of Australia carried this vision in their magazine. She has immediately started working
on various programmes for upgrading the knowledge of practitioners in the region with a Pilot project
called Ferticonnect, which will help practitioners in the region to understand the nitty gritties of fertility
management and ultimately translate into overall improvement in the services provided. Along with it in
improving the service providers young practitioners are being encouraged to go and observe quality
controlled services being provided by good centres in the Asia Pacific region so that they can come back
and apply the same in their countries, along with ASPIRE under her leadership is organising
Masterclasses and regional conferences and sessions in the regional conferences to create awareness
towards the management of infertility. One of the main contributions has been the Minimum standard
care statement and accreditation of the clinics in the region and starting of the various registries in
the region for ART.
Parities in Practice and Accreditation of ART Centres in Asia Pacific
One of her prime focus for the region as ASPIRE president is to bring parity in practice, for this work is
being done to recognise centers of excellence in the region and organise training programs for practitioners
of the region. Under her leadership, an Accreditation program is being launched where centers will be
accredited under ASPIRE and the quality of service being provided in the region is atpar with the developed
countries.
Involvement with AOFOG
Her involvement with the AOFOG has been long standing and apart from giving lectures at the various
conferences of AOFOG, on various Topics, she has also edited a book on “Managing infertility in low
resource setup” and also is closely working with the Ultrasound subcommittee of AOFOG and has contributed
immensely to improving knowledge about Ultrasound in infertility in the region.contributed chapters to the
AOFOG book on TVS.
Dedicated member of FOGSI Dr Jaideep Malhotra has been a very active the member of FOGSI right from 1982 onwards and during the
course of 32 years she has actively participated in all the FOGSI programmes, academic as well as social. She
has been instrumental in developing many educative programmes. Her activities on the social front also have
been very well appreciated. Her hard work and dedication has made her a popular part of all FOGSI
academics and from being member of subcommittees of FOGSI, she spearheaded the International academic
exchange committee of FOGSI, which did pioneering work in laisioning with international academic
exchange programmes and then rose to become the vice president of FOGSI 2010.She has organised many
CMEs, workshops conferences and international travelling seminars for FOGSI and is the organising secretary
for the forthcoming All India conference in 2016. She has edited many chapters for FOGSI publications and
edited books for FOGSI and is presently secretary of the academic wing of FOGSI.She is one of the major
Campaigners for FOGSI’s “Save the girl child initiative”.She has the unique privilege of organising ALL
INDIA Congress of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist twice. As an ultimate tribute to her dedicated service to
FOGSI, She has been elected unopposed the President of FOGSI for the year 2018
Indian college of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
She has been instrumental in scaling up the activities of the Indian college of Obstetricians and
Gynaecologists, the college has four, six monthly certificate courses running smoothly helping almost 30
students each year to super specialise, she has lately helped the college institute two more courses one in
Fetal medicine and other in critical care, which will ultimately help in impacting the maternal mortality
and also the fetal birth defects. Her constant endeavour in facilitating the service providers has been well
appreciated and this year ICOG will conduct 16 two days professional enhancement CMEs in the country.
In the last three years itself the college under her leadership has organised more than 150 CMEs all over
the country in India and ICOG sessions at neighbouring countries like Nepal Bangladesh, Srilanka and
FIGO- SLCOG conference at Colombo. She introduced the ICOG branding merchandise for the very first
time. Due to her hard work and devotion to the college she now stands as Vice Chairman of ICOG.
Royal College of Physicians of Ireland
Over the past decade FOGSI has nurtured the relationship with The Royal College of Physicians of
Ireland. President of FOGSI in 2009, Prof Purandare opened discussions with Prof Mike O Connell and
Prof Mike O Dowd on the possibility of bringing the Membership exam of the Royal College of
Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) in O&G to India. These have continued under the Institute Chairmanship
of Professor Robbie Harrison. The MRCPI is recognised by the Irish Medical Council and is an
international benchmark postgraduate qualification. In conduct of the MICOG-MRCPI combined
examination, Dr Jaideep Malhotra was one of the first to attend and observe the MRCPI Examination at
Dublin in October 2013. Her untiring efforts along with Prof C.N Purandare, to liaise with the Royal
college has resulted in discussions which have led to a memorandum of understanding being signed
between both organisations. This was followed by the successful organisation of the first revision course
coordinated by ICOG Secretary Dr. Jaideep Malhotra and conducted by Prof. Mike O Connell in July
2014. .The first combined MICOG-MRCPI examination was held on 9th September 2014.The Exam has
now gained momentum and popularity amongst Indian students. She is carrying forward the combined
vision of the RCPI and ICOG to upgrade the academic standards not only in india but also in the region
so as to have a strengthen the evidence based uniform practice amongst the practitioners to have in-depth
impact on the population at large.
Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
Her untiring efforts along with Prof C.N Purandare,to liaise with the Royal college has resulted in
instituting the refreshers course for the combined MRCOG-MICOG examination, which has gained
momentum and popularity amongst Indian students and, now a number of students are enrolling for the
course and appearing for the examination and also a good percentage are passing. Her close laisoning
with the AICC-RCOG will now look at up scaling the MRCOG-MICOG Part two examinations. She
has also organised and helped as faculty for the refreshers courses right from the beginning of signing an
MOU with the Indian college of Obs and Gyn and recently organised with RCOG, a TOT (Training of
tutors) to build up the teaching pool for the RCOG refreshers course and examination which was very
well received. ICOG now has a large pool of trainers for RCOG courses. She has been in the scientific
programmeof various RCOG conferences in India.
Indian Menopause Society and South Asian Federation of Menopause Societies
Her interest in midlife management developed a little late after attending one of the meetings of the Indian
Menopause society and she immediately realised that this branch of women’s health needs much effort than
the general obs&gyn, as practitioners know little about managing this ever increasing pool of midlife women
who have unique problems, she believes that preventive and educative measures for this group has to start
early and thus she floated the idea of Club35 plus with the aim of educating women about looking after
themselves in this age group and also preparing them for the preventive aspect of postmenopausal
problems. This club has become so popular that it was later adopted by Indian Menopause society as their
main Public awareness face and today all chapters of Indian menopause society have an attached Club 35
plus (about 40 cities in india) and also there is one in Nepal and one in Bangladesh and inspired by the same
four in Pakistan called forty plus based on the same concept.
