IN DIALOGUEAs a technology driver, PROEMION develops telematics systems for every applica-tion – made in Germany. Behind this successful enterprise stands Dipl.-Ing. Robert Michaelides, founder and CEO of the Michaelides group, to which PROEMION belongs.

WHAT DISTINGUISHES PROEMION TELEMATICS SOLUTIONS FROM OTHER VENDORS?The greatest difference lies with the standardized secure CAN data transmission supported by all PROEMION solutions. Thanks to our own data center, we provide complete control of all customer data transmitted from a variety of objects. Another PROEMION advantage ensures standard industrial hardware solutions from RM Michaelides, currently the most robust cellular modem on the market.

WHAT WHERE THE REASONS BEHIND SETTING OUR FOCUS ON TELEMATICS?PROEMION was established based on specific customer requirements set by the OEM sector. The objective was to globally depict individually configurable and accessible CAN data via GSM. Thus, efficiency is significantly increased, for example, by reducing onsite maintenance. PROEMION contributed, as it were, a pioneering project to provide customers intelligent software solutions with extensive data from CAN bus systems, accessibility at all times, user-friendly displays and management systems.

HOW WOULD YOU ASSESS THE TELEMATICS SECTOR DEVELOPMENT FOR THE NEXT YEARS?Worldwide, the number of complex machines is steadily increasing. Object data availability will remain the focus of our research and development. In addition to being able to read or document data using portal access or software solutions, I foresee networking machines with each other as the biggest challenge in the future. Reciprocal regulation, controlling and parallel working are challenges which PROEMION will gladly accept!

BRIEF PROFILEThe optimal interaction of hardware and software constitutes a crucial factor for successful telematics.PROEMION was founded in 2000 as a member of the Michaelides group which belongs to the hardware manufacturer RM Michaelides Software & Elektronik.The company employs more than 90 people at locations in Fulda / Germany and Dayton / Ohio, 63 of which work in our development department. By pooling research, develop-ment and production, PROEMION is able to meet the criteria necessary for providing consistently high product quality and service.

DATA SECURITYIn addition to the certified development and production of all our products – made in Germany – we place special emphasis on your information security. Data encryption at our data center enables object data presentation without external service providers. Authentication is performed in two ways, either by using passwords or with an optional double-factor authentication (hardware token).

FORESTRYA shredding machine manufacturer implements Core REAL-Time to read CAN data from mobile objects. Remote diagnoses is made possible with Core REAL-Time implementation. CAN data is sent securily to the PROEMION server using PROEMION hardware, then forwarded to the PROEMION dashboard. The software enables the CAN data to be displayed securily in real time via configurable dashboard.

MOBILE FLOODLIGHTINGMobile lighting units are equipped with expanded features and moder-nized with Core READY integration. This required a revision of the analog board network. Our designers im-plemented new electronics, modern cabinets and a CAN bus system, which can be read worldwide through CAN link. This innovative portal access en-ables global transmission of CAN data,i.e. operating hours, coolant tempera-ture, fuel tank level, oil pressure and critical values. Maintenance manage-ment is automated; improved security avoids breakdowns and minimizes damages due to wind stress etc.

TRANSPORTATION & LOGISTICSAs a specialist in development and production of telematics solutions PROEMION was commissioned to design a modern fleet and driver management system for fork lift trucks. In accordance with the manufacturer's requirements, Core PRO telematics system was implemented to collect data and record critical values on operating costs and operator access history derived from various vehicles. Disposition and utilization are optimized, management and evaluation of vehicle and drivers data are ensured. Wireless transmission of defined data is read on the internal server. An enhancement of this system has already been agreed on, development is underway.

FARMINGCore PRO is used worldwide in more than 8,000 farming vehicles for CAN data transmission PROEMION's server and encrypted data transmission pro-vides secure CAN data transmission to customers' servers via mobile modem. This web service is supplemented with an additional log file reader (connection history).
