The Minnesota Department of Health has approved the American Health Care Association’s (AHCA’s) How to be a Nursing Assistant training curriculum for use in Minnesota. INFECTION PREVENTIONIST ONLINE TRAINING
SNF/NF providers must have an Infection Preventionist in place by 11-28-2019. The Infection Preventionist must have completed “specialized training in infection prevention and control.” IPCO training is a 23-hour online self-study program that includes lectures, case studies, and interactive components taught by long- term care infection control experts from around the country. IPCO training addresses both clinical and organizational systems, processes and cultural aspects of infection prevention and control which are fundamental to effectively leading and administering a facility’s Infection Prevention & Control program. The program is flexible, self-paced, and available 24/7. Certificates of completion are valid for three years with additional certification renewal op-tions. American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC) contact hours are available for completion of the program.
