Link to human right to food and water
Productive sanitation → Food production as a driver, promoting fertilizers
instead of toilets, reducing danger and capturing resources via
containment/treatment/reuse of human excreta
Protects WATER :
- Promoting systems that contain excreta and facilitate efficient die-off of
pathogens
- Minimizing nutrient displacement into waterbodies
Contributes to sustainable FOOD production :
- Keeping nutrients and organic matter in productive loop

![Page 17: Productive sanitation initiatives in rural Burkina Faso and Niger – links to human rights](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062519/568153de550346895dc1d7d5/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)

![Page 23: Productive sanitation initiatives in rural Burkina Faso and Niger – links to human rights](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062519/568153de550346895dc1d7d5/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
![Page 24: Productive sanitation initiatives in rural Burkina Faso and Niger – links to human rights](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062519/568153de550346895dc1d7d5/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
Handicapées/personnes âgées:
• Latrine à compost sans escalier (Niger)
c) Aspects genre et non-discrimination
• Adaptation des latrines sèches aux
handicapées possible (Burkina)
![Page 25: Productive sanitation initiatives in rural Burkina Faso and Niger – links to human rights](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062519/568153de550346895dc1d7d5/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
Homme/femme
![Page 26: Productive sanitation initiatives in rural Burkina Faso and Niger – links to human rights](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062519/568153de550346895dc1d7d5/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
Solutions a envisager:
![Page 27: Productive sanitation initiatives in rural Burkina Faso and Niger – links to human rights](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062519/568153de550346895dc1d7d5/html5/thumbnails/27.jpg)
![Page 28: Productive sanitation initiatives in rural Burkina Faso and Niger – links to human rights](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022062519/568153de550346895dc1d7d5/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)
e) Perspectives
