PRODUCTION WELL NO. 5 The City of Lake Elmo is working in coordination with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MNDNR), Minnesota Pollution control Agency (MPCA), and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) to construct a new water supply well (Well No. 5) to help replace the recently decommissioned well (Well No. 1) located in the Old Village due to PFAS contamination. Chad Isakson, Project Manager 651.300.4283 [email protected] Jack Griffin, City Engineer 651.300.4264 [email protected] SCOPE OF IMPROVEMENTS: Well No. 5 is will be located in Tana Ridge Park and will be the third high capacity well supplying water to the City’s municipal water system. Traut Companies has been retained to drill the production well. This work will be ongoing for two months and is anticipated to start in June 2020. Work will be contained within the park. A test pumping period will occur towards the end of the drilling work which will direct groundwater into Goetchel Pond. It is anticipated work on the building to house the production well pump, mechanical and electrical devices, and chemical feed equipment needed to operate a municipal drinking water well will begin in early September, 2020. A site plan can be referred to in the attachments below, which also includes a rendering of the future building. A contract is anticipated to be awarded at the June 16, 2020 Council meeting for this project. The schedule is to have the production well online and producing water for the City of Lake Elmo services by summer of 2021. ATTACHMENTS: Pumphouse No. 5 Site Plan and Building Rendering
