Date and Task Comments05.04.12 I produced a mood board for the E4 website to explore the layout, colours and

themes etc.13.04.12 I also produced a mood board for the E4 Stings website and did exactly the same.26.04.12 I produced a sheet of ideas generation for the E4 stings assignment. 28.04.12 Carried on with my ideas generation for E4 stings.30.04.12 Carried on with my ideas generation for E4 stings.03.05.12 Carried on with my ideas generation for E4 stings.10.05.12 I blogged all my ideas generation and produced a story board for one of my ideas

on the template.17.05.12 I updated my outline schedule as the deadline date had been changed, which

gives me more time to work and plan with. This is now blogged. 17.05.12 I produced another storyboard for another one of my ideas because i felt if i had

more choice, i can look and discuss each one and how they are going to work, and which on will work best.

17.05.12 I started to create my character for my sting. I gathered some images together off the internet and i used the e4 logo template to determine the size. I used body parts and the e4 logo to create my character, to give me a base to work from when it comes to creating the parts myself in illustrator.

17.05.12 To help me create the movement I want in the animation of the arms, I went out and filmed one of my classmates doing different movements with their arms, in the way I would want my characters arms to move.

23.05.12 With the footage I filmed I transferred it onto the computer, and then I had to put my chosen file in to frames of pictures, showing the movement in picture form. I then had to chose which image files I needed which were the ones in the middle and there was 35 images altogether.

25.05.12 With the 35 images I had to draw round the arm in Illustrator using the pen tool, and then after I did that I had to do it again but missing 1 picture then doing the next one after. So altogether I will have 17 or 18 layers each with arm on in its position on the picture,

30.05.12 I copied the arms into Photoshop on their own layers so it looked just like it did in Illustrator. I then selected animation and this is what it did

I then copied the frames at the bottom then pasted them next to the ones already there. I then had to reverse the animation so the arm would close then open again. This was just practice of how the animation will look.

31.05.12 I had to create the other body parts that are going into my sting and I did this in Illustrator using the pen tool and the shape tools.

31.05.12 I animated the skates and eyes in illustrator by making copies of the original layer and moving them into different positions. I put the skates, eyes and arms into Photoshop again, but this time with the animated layers too. Now it’s time to start putting together a sequence in Adobe After Effects.

07.06.12 I created a new project in Adobe After Effects and imported all the files out of Photoshop in to. I arranged them in the list according to what I want them to do and look like, all in preparation for me to start the animation and movement of the objects.

20.06.12 In After Effects i imported just the eyes but a larger version, so they fill the screen at the beginning. Using key frames I made the eyes blink to bring them to life and make them look animated.

21.06.12 I had to key frame certain parts of the movement because i needed the arms to flow and move in a way that as the clip played, the previous arm would disappear and show the next movement and so on. I had to make sure that the first position on the arm was on 100% opacity, then the next frame would be 0% opacity. I also had to make sure i was on the correct layer so i didn’t put key frames in the wrong layers. The screenshots below show how the finished left arm movements end up.

26.06.12 After animating the arms, i brought the E4 logo in as two seperate vector objects so they can both be moved individually. I positioned the outline in it’s place for the arm to move it correctly, and i then did the same with the inner of the logo. I wanted to create the arms reaching out for the logo and fittng it into itself.

26.06.12 Now i have the body of the animation done, i want to bring in the the little eyes which go at the top of the E4 logo so it looks more realistic like it has a face. I had to keyframe and animate these eyes too os that they blinked.

It looks so much more real once the animation is in there because it brings the objects to life.

29.06.12 I animated the skates in the last 3 skates so they made movement, now its finally done i need to render it and bring the file in to Adobe Premier.

The picture shows the footage being rendered and this could take a while.

29.06.12 Once it rendered brought the file in Premier once i had made a new project. I cut the film where it needed to be cut because when editing it slightly longer than 10 seconds, just to be cautious. I then found the sound that I wanted to have playing while the video is playing, and brought that in to Premier too. All i need to do now is render this and upload it to Youtube and my blog.
