Glass screen
A device for converting photographic originals to the dotted images used for printing.
Each glass screen is engraved with a grid of fine lines. When light from the photo
image is passed through the screen, large dots are created where the light is stronger,
while smaller dots are formed in areas with weaker light.
At the time, glass screens were produced manually, and each one required around
one week to prepare.

Topics Direct imaging system for panels featuring world-leading resolutions
As mobile devices have become increasingly sophisticated, there has been a growing need for more advanced semiconductor
lamination and fan-out technologies. Our response has been to develop the DW-6000, a state of the art direct imaging system that
combines our proprietary iGLV optics engine and laser control technologies.
The DW-6000 features a world-leading resolution for mass production systems of 2 μm during the manufacture of large
rectangular panels with sizes of up to 620 x 650 mm. The system is expected to open up new possibilities for high-precision
patterning in the advanced package field, even as accuracy requirements continue to accelerate.

Topics New technology for mass production of next-generation flexible displays
Polyimide (PI) substrates are attracting significant attention for use in new applications such as wearable devices and in-
vehicle displays. They offer a range of exciting new possibilities thanks to their outstanding thinness, lightness and flexibility.
By combining our unique expertise and technologies, we have succeeded in uniformly coating polyimide on substrates at a
thickness of just 10 microns. This process can be used for substrates of up to 1,500 x 1,850 mm and requires a maximum of
only 120 seconds. It marks a significant step forward in the mass production of OLED and other flexible displays.

Topics New wide-gamut inks for direct printing on offset coated paper
Until recently, high-volume production of pamphlets and catalogues was only achievable with offset printing that
involved a succession of time-consuming processes. We have now developed a range of wide-gamut inks that
can be used with our Truepress Jet520HD digital system to print directly on offset coated paper.
These inks offer major advantages with the rapid growth of diversified small lot printing. Using them, it is
possible to easily produce large runs of different pamphlets and catalogues to meet tight deadlines while
maintaining outstanding print quality.

Inkjet Printhead Technology
• Continuous inkjet (CIJ), a stream of ink is created
• Drop on demand (DOD), a drop of ink is created
• thermal inkjet (heat creates the drop)
• piezoelectric inkjet (pressure creates the drop)
Kodak is known for its CIJ “Stream” technology, while HP champions thermal
inkjet. Screen is a prominent user of piezo heads.

But……….
Why?
Paper selection is having a big impact on the production quality and
profitability of inkjet solutions.
The challenge is to find a balance between quality, ink use, power
consumption and paper cost.
Successful printing on coated paper types is becoming a requirement to
enter short run publishing and promotional applications due to the low
cost of commodity stocks and wide range of their availability.

Freedom of Substrate
Types of printing companies :- Commercial printers
- wide range of products, from stationery to brochures and magazines
- Packaging printers
- boxes, cartons, bags, cans, tags and labels
- Publication printers
- newspapers, books, periodicals such as magazines or directories such as
the yellow pages
- In-plants
- the print centre of a university, the print department of a ministry or the
print division of banks.
Offset technology is the most widely used commercial printing technology.
However, there is a change in the trend from the conventional offset technology
to advanced digital high-speed inkjet technology.
