Primary production refers to extraction of raw materials from the earth. It is also known as the extractive industry.

Extraction of raw materials from the earth such as timber, seafood and vegetables.

Examples of people involved: Lumber jacks, fishermen and farmers

Secondary Production refers to the conversion of raw materials to finished goods.

Manufacturing industry

using raw materials to make everything we need or want, from aspirin to aeroplanes, electricity to electronics

Constructive industry

the building or constructing of homes, schools, roads, hospitals, factories, canals, bridges, and so on.
