PRODUCT UPDATE

Blowdown valve (BDV)implemented as standardThe RC-kit is available for FlexiROC D60 and D65and for SmartROC D65.

The blowdown valve is a new, highly demanded andappreciated component in the Reverse Circulation(RC) systems, as it provides much needed function-alities for continuous and problem free operationduring drilling in challenging conditions.

When actuated, it blocks the sample return passage(inner tubes) and redirects the drilling air down thesample tubes. This allows the operator to clear the in-ner tube or drill bit blockages and/or to clear materialfrom the drill hole without turning off the drilling airor disconnecting the drill rods.

It is also often used in blowdown mode at the be-ginning of a drill rod to clear water from the hole

before drilling begins. This enables dry samples to beretrieved immediately once drilling begins, thus re-ducing hang-up in the sample system and subsequentsample contamination.

Full RC-kit with BDV is available as aftermarket kit.Seperate BDV can also be retrotted on previous ver-sions of the RC-kit.

Main values of the BDV: A continuous operation without turning off the

drilling air or disconnecting drill tubes for clean-ing blockages

The ability of emptying the hole from water (notthrough the sampling system) for a drier sample.

A drier sample will mean less contamination po-tential and less cleaning of the sampling systemneeded

A 25% - 30% productivity increase in challeng-ing conditions by virtually eliminating the needto clean pipes and/or the RC hammer

Consistency of the sample is standardized, whichis important for the sampling process

New hose reel on topThe hose reel on top of the rig is now wider for moreroom in between hoses. The rollers are made of plas-tic, instead of metal, to reduce friction which willincrease the service life. Thanks to the new hose ar-rangement the rig has become less sensitive to poorweather conditions, which means that the rig doesnot suffer from not being operated for a longer pe-riod of time.
