Installation of the supplementarysoftware (RCP tool)

To be able to parameterise the LEAN-touch or SMARTtouch panel in ETS 2,in ETS 3 or in Power-Project (from ver-sion 4.0 onwards), the supplementarysoftware RCP-Tool must be installed. You can find this software on the EIBproduct database CD-ROM (art. no.0405) or on the Internet at www.Busch-Jaeger.de.

The software can be plugged intoETS 2, ETS 3 and/or Power-Project.That means that as soon as youretrieve the parameters of a panel inETS or Power-Project, the panelsoftware is opened automatically inwhich you carry out all further settings.

Before you start the installation ofthe panel software, please ensurethat ETS or Power-Project hasalready been installed on yourcomputer.

The following section describes theindividual installation steps.

An installation wizard helps you to in-stall the panel software. This is startedby double clicking on the file“Setup.exe” and can run in either“German” or “English”.

The panel sofware requires at leastWindows 98. You require full administra-tor rights of the operating system in or-der to install the panel software.

Once you have confirmed the welcomescreen with “Next”, you can enter yourname and the name of your company inthe “User info” dialog. If several userswork on the computer on which youwish to install the software, you can li-mit access to the software. This meansthat either all the users can start thesoftware or only you.

The installation path for the panel soft-ware is defined in the next dialog. Bydefault, this is “C:\Program Files\EIB-Programs\”. It is advisable to keep thispath as e.g. Power-Project has thesame default installation path. All EIBprograms and additional EIB softwarecan thus be easily located on the harddisk.

In the “Select functions” dialog, you defi-ne whether the VD2 or VD3 files shouldbe copied locally onto the hard disk. Yourequire these to be able to use theLEANtouch/SMARTtouch panel in con-nection with an ETS version. (Also ob-serve the note at the end of this chap-ter).

By default, the files are copied into thefollowing directory:C:\Program Files\EIB-Programs\RCP-Tool\VDX

Once you have confirmed the “Selectfunctions” dialog with “Next”, theinstallation wizard carries out aninitialisation. This means that all therequired files are compiled togetherand stored temporarily. The dialog“Updating the system” is shown forvisual monitoring purposes.

All the required files are then copied intothe appropriate directories. The installa-tion is concluded with an automaticamendment of the Windows registrationentries.

The computer must be restarted depen-ding on the operating system used.

NoteOnce you have installed the panelsoftware, you must import the productdata (VD2 or VD3 files) in the ETSdatabase if you wish to parameterise apanel with ETS.

To do so, please retrieve the ETS im-port tool (ETS 2 or ETS 3) and importthe VD2 (ETS 2) or VD3 files (ETS 3)from the default directoryC:\Program Files\EIB-Programs\RCP-Tool\VDX.

You must import the VD2 or VD3 filesin full.

Caution:The import of individual files is notpossible.

Commissioning a panel

The commissioning of a panel ispossible either via a multimedia/SDcard (not included) or with “standard”bus programming.

Due to the high level of functionality, full programming via the bus takes along time depending on theconfiguration and medium (TwistedPair or Powernet). The use of themultimedia/SD card is thereforerecommended for quick and simplecommissioning. It is not advisable tocarry out full bus programming viaPowernet.

The menu item “Download” of the com-missioning tool therefore has two furt-her submenus via which the user canselect the required commissioning me-thod. If he selects programming via mul-timedia card, the configuration is storedon a card which is connected to the PC.

With a project that is saved in thisway, the panel itself can becommissioned by inserting the card. The slot for the multimedia/SD card islocated behind the chrome flap of thepanel.

Several projects can be stored on onemultimedia card. After inserting thecard in the panel, the user can selectthe required project which should beloaded into the panel.

Functions of the panel software

The functions and applications are ar-ranged with all the communication ob-jects in the centre. If necessary, the in-dividual functions/applications must firstbe activated so that the communicationobjects become visible. The functionsare defined via a pull-down menu.

The parameters of the individual func-tions are displayed on the right-handside. The parameters of the function thatis marked in the centre are always dis-played.

To obtain a better overview, individualfunctions can be temporarily hidden viathe function view.

The buttons at the bottom always jumpdirectly to the selected function. This isparticularly advisable if the function treein the centre has been fully extended.

If you have inserted a LEANtouch orSMARTtouch panel in Power-Projector in ETS, open the panel software byretrieving the “Edit device” dialog(Power-Project) or the parameters(ETS) of the panel. The panelsoftware starts automatically with thefollowing interface.

The method of operation of the panelsoftware is identical to that of Power-Project or ETS. The “standard” group

addresses and the internal groupaddresses are arranged on the left-hand side. Internal group addressesare not sent on the bus and aretherefore used to relieve the load onthe bus. A touch surface can forexample be linked with a lightscenevia an internal group address. Thegroup addresses and the internalgroup addresses are linked with thecommunication objects in the centreusing drag & drop.

Copying a panel

Only one panel can be parameterisedat one time. To provide several panelswith the same functionality(generation of a duplicate of apreviously configured panel), pleaseproceed as follows:

Retrieve the function “Save as...” fromthe File menu. The project is storedwith the file ending *.rcp. Now closethe panel software. Please insert anew panel in ETS or Power-Project.This can be in the same or anotherproject. Then open the panel softwarefor the inserted panel. Select thefunction “Open” in the File menu andselect the previously saved file.

Please note that you can load thedata of a LEANtouch panel into aSMARTtouch panel but not vice versa.

During the import, the following windowis displayed in which you can selectwhether the import should be carriedout with or without group addresses.

During an import with group addresses, you must ensure that all the groupaddresses or actions are already loca-ted in the project with identical EIS ty-pes to the template. Otherwise, you canonly import the data without groupaddresses. You must then however linkthem again.

Auto backup file

When you retrieve the menu item“Settings” under the File menu, youcan set the period, after which thepanel software will carry out anautomatic backup. This is a temporaryfile which is stored on your hard disk.

If e.g. your computer crashes, you canretrieve the last automatic backupwith the menu item “Reset” under theFile menu.

Copying functions

To shorten the configuration time, it ispossible to copy the settings of afunction (touch surface, time function, lightscene). To do so, click on thefunction with the right mouse buttonwhich should be copied.

Note:Only touch surfaces with identical appli-cations or functions can be duplicated.

Important noteIf you have inserted a LEANtouch/SMARTtouch panel in ETS 2, you mayno longer retrieve the followingfunction:– Shrink database

The reason for this lies in thedatabase structure of ETS 2. It is notlarge enough to take all the panelinformation. The panel information isstored temporarily in several files onthe hard disk. If you carry out thefunction mentioned above, the filesare no longer taken into account andthe result is data loss or damage tothe database.

For ETS 2 users:After importing an ETS 2 project with aLEANtouch/SMARTtouch panel, adatabase consistency check must becarried out in any case. Otherwise, the panel is not displayed correctly/fully within the framework of thecommissioning process.

Background illumination

The backlighting of the panel isswitched on automatically as soon asthe display is operated. After theadjustable period “Backgroundillumination on for”, the lighting isswitched off again provided that thepanel has not been pressed again.

The panel has three communicationobjects in the basic settings. All threeobjects are used to control thebacklighting and are 1 bit in size.

The backlighting can be switched viathe object “Background illumination”.A ON telegram received via the EIBswitches the backlighting on while anOFF telegram switches it off again.

The object can however also belinked with an internal address.

Example:The panel backlighting should alwaysswitch on at 18:00 in the evening andswitch off again at 10:00 in themorning. To do so, a channel of thetime program function isparameterised with switching and theswitch object of the channel is linkedwith the same internal address as thebackground illumination object. Thebus load is reduced on the EIB sidedue to the internal link and groupaddresses or actions are saved.

The object “Status backgroundillumination” sends an ON telegramas soon as the backlighting has beenswitched on. If the backlightingswitches off again after the set resetperiod, the object sends an OFFtelegram.

The backlighting can be disabled viathe object “Enable status”. If an ONtelegram is received, the backlightingcan be switched. If an OFF telegramis received, the backlighting remainsdisabled.

General

By default, the panel has thelanguages German and English. Thedisplay language can be set to a thirdlanguage via the setting “Country-specific”. This third language must betransferred to the panel via a firmwareupdate. The additional languagesavailable can be downloaded from theBusch-Jaeger homepage(www.Busch-Jaeger.de).

The panel distinguishes between ashort and long push button action e.g.when dimming or moving shutters. Itis possible to set the period which thepanel detects as a long push buttonaction. By default, the period is set at500 ms.

The panel has an internaltemperature sensor. The measuredvalue is displayed on the homepage. The display can also be deactivatedvia the setting “Display temperatureindoors”.

The outside temperature is notdisplayed by default. The display canbe activated via the display “Displaytemperature outdoors”. The outsidetemperature is the temperature valuewhich the panel receives via the2-byte communication object“Temperature outside”. It can berecorded e.g. by a “standard” EIBtemperature sensor and sent via its2-byte communication object “Actualvalue”.

If the indoor and outdoor temperatureshould be displayed simultaneously, the corresponding point on thedisplay changes every 5 s.

The panel can display the date andtime. The display can be carried out inthe German format (TT.MM.JJJJ; 24h)or in the English format (MM.TT.JJJJ;12h).

The panel can send and receive thedate and time on the EIB via the two3-byte communication objects “Date”and “Time”. The panel can thus act asa master clock for other EIB devicesor as an extension unit. In its functionas an extension unit, the date andtime can e.g. be sent by an EIB DCF-77 receiver on the bus. By default, thedate and time are neither sent norreceived.

If the date and the time should bedisplayed on the panel, thecorresponding display switchesbetween date and time every 5 s.

The panel has an info page, an alarmclock and a timer. All three functionscan be activated in the basic settings.

The contact person, company, telephone, fax and email of theelectrical company which carried outthe installation can be stored on theaddress page. In the event ofchanges, the customer (end user)does not need to search in hisdocumentation to find the right contactperson. He will find all the relevantdata directly in the panel.

System settings

The system settings are not enabledas standard. This means that a fourdigit code (by default 0000) must beentered on the display so thatchanges can be carried out. Onlyauthorised personnel may thereforeview and modify the system settings. It is possible however to enable thesystem settings in principle e.g. inenclosed rooms with users who arepermitted to carry out settings. Thesystem settings can also be fullydisabled.

Caution:If you disable the system settingscompletely, the menu item“Commissioning” on the panel can nolonger be selected. In this case, youmust carry out a long operation at thebottom left of the display and therebyswitch on the mains voltage. Themenu item “System” becomes visibleand the panel can e.g. becommissioned with the multimedia/SD card.

If the system settings are saved withthe help of a code, the code is definedvia the parameter “Code for systemsettings”.

The following settings can be carriedout in the system settings on thedisplay:

– Change date– Change time– Display lighting– Volume– Contrast / brightness– Signal tones

– Alarm messages– Timer / alarm clock– Incorrect input– Push button click

– Touchscreen adjustment– Commissioning

– EIB programming– Reading multimedia/SD card

The time which has been stored inthe parameter “Backgroundillumination on for” is modified via“Background illumination”.

The volume and the contrast orbrightness must be adapted to theenvironment and requirements of theend user.

The complete touch surface issynchronised again with thetouchscreen adjustment. To do so,the operating pen must be clickedprecisely on specific points which areindicated on the display.

The commissioning can be carriedout both via the EIB and via themultimedia/SD card module slot. ForPowernet variants, it is notadvisable to carry out theprogramming via the bus as this isvery time-consuming and faultscaused by cyclical transmitters (e.g.room thermostats or movementdetectors) can lead to theprogramming being interrupted.

LEANtouch (monochrome),SMARTtouch (monochrome, colour)Type: 6x36/30M(-500), 6x36/100x(-500), 6x36/100CB

Homepage

The homepage of the panel is the firstpage which is shown by default. If asubmenu (control function) has beenretrieved via the touch surfaces, thepanel automatically reverts to the lastcontrol page after a long period ofinactivity.

The homepage can be provided witha heading which is defined via thesetting “Headline Homepage”.

No direct functions can be executedon the homepage itself. It is used asa navigation page in which you canchange e.g. to the required rooms inorder to carry out switching functions.

Touch surfaces

Up to 10 (6 for LEANtouch) touchsurfaces can be displayed on thehomepage. Each touch surface can atleast adopt the function “Controlfunction”. The setting “Inactive” shouldonly be selected if the touch surfaceis not used and should not display ormonitor anything.

Touch surfaces (Control function)

If a touch surface on the homepage isassigned the application “Controlfunction”, a submenu can be retrievedin which up to 10 (6 for LEANtouch)further functions can be stored.

The text which appears on the touchsurface is defined via the parameter“Name of touch surface (Homepage)”.

Touch surfaces (Monitoring function)

The first touch surface of the SMART-touch panel can be assigned with a mo-nitoring function instead of a controlfunction. In the dialog field “Monitoringfunction” which is retrieved via the firsttouch surface, the panel can be armedor deactivated and an overview of allthe alarm and fault messages can beretrieved.

Note:The monitoring function is not used toset up a VDS-certified alarm systembut merely offers the opportunity ofmonitoring e.g. windows, doors orinterior rooms via EIB-type movementdetectors. It is not a replacement foran alarm system.

Inputs (Entry 1 up to 16,Monitoring function)

The monitoring function can monitorup to 16 inputs. Each input has itsown 1-bit communication objectavailable “Input ...”. The parameter“Number of inputs” determines howmany inputs are actually visible.

It can be set for each input via theparameter “Type of input” whether it isa window, a movement detector whichmay or may not be in the entrancearea, a “standard” door or one ofthree doors in the entrance area. Thesetting should however only be seenas a configuration tool. All the inputsare treated the same internally in thepanel, regardless of the “Type ofinput” assigned.

Text can be freely assigned to eachindividual input via the parameter“Description of the input”. If an input isnow triggered on the panel, not onlythe input number is shown but also aclear text description such as“Bathroom window open”.

The input objects are linked via groupaddresses with the sensor objects(binary inputs, magnetic contacts,switch/key bolt contact, …) of thewindow, movement detector or doorsthat are to be monitored. The linkedsensors must send their inputsignals, both “0” and “1”, cyclically onthe bus so that the panel knows the sta-tus of the installation at any time.

Page 19: Product manual ABB i-Bus EIB ABB i-bus EIB ABB … · ABB i-bus ® EIB ABB Powernet EIB ... 9 Functions of the panel software 2 - 11 ... Touch-sensitive display 320 x 240 pixels

If e.g. a movement detector is preven-ted from detecting movements throughsabotage, the panel notes the sabota-ged movement detector as it has notsent out any telegrams within the “Moni-toring time of inputs”. The panel thusautomatically sets the linked input tofault mode.

The “Monitoring time of inputs” can beadjusted and represents acompromise between a high bus loadand system reliability. The monitoringtime should be set too short, particularly in Powerline installations.

Note:Set the cyclic period of the sensors(binary inputs or movement detectors)to sensible values.Example:– Monitoring time of the inputs:

10 min– Cyclic period of the sensors:

4.5 minIt is therefore guaranteed that atelegram is received at least twicewithin the monitoring time.

If the mains voltage fails, the inputsinitially remain inactive on mainsvoltage recovery. The time until theinputs become active is set via theparameter “Monitoring of inputs aftermains voltage recovery”.

If an ON telegram is set while thesystem is “armed”, the input istriggered. That means that the “Textfor on” is entered in the panel in thelist of monitoring functions. If an inputfails, the “Text for failure” is entered inthe list of faults. Both the “Text for on”and the “Text for off” can be freely setfor each input.

The monitoring function has twocommunication objects “Releasinginputs” and “Failure inputs” which cansend out the input states. The twoobjects can adopt 1-byte or 14-bytevalues. This is dependent on thesetting “Type of output”.

In the case of a 1-byte output variable, when an input is triggered in thearmed state, the number of the inputwhich has been triggered is sent tothe 1-byte object “Releasing inputs”. Ifan input fails, the number of the inputwhich has failed is sent to the 1-byteobject “Failure inputs”.

If the “Type of output” is set to 14 bytes, the “Message text at releasing” of therespective input is sent to the 14-byteobject “Releasing inputs” when an inputis triggered. In the event of a fault, the14-byte object “Failure inputs” sends the“Message text at failure” of the input. Both text elements can be freely assig-ned to each input and contain up to 13characters.

The transmitted 14-byte text can opena pop-up window on the display withthe help of the alarm functionality, which immediately displays a visualand/or acoustic fault or a trigger. Theuser does not therefore need to firstchange to the list of alarm and faultmessages but sees directly that thereis a problem with the installation.

If at least one input has a fault, theinstallation can be armed directly. Theinput or inputs must first beacknowledged in order to arm thesystem. The faulty inputs are removedfrom the monitoring as a result. Theacknowledgement can either becarried out directly on the panel or viathe 1-bit communication object“Failure reset inputs”.

Example:The installation should be armedexternally at an entrance door with thehelp of a key-operated switch. Themovement detector in the cellar ishowever currently faulty i.e. it nolonger sends a cyclical telegram andis thus faulty. So that the user can stillarm his system, he must firstacknowledge the faulty input. This cane.g. be carried out via a 1-fold switchsensor.

Page 20: Product manual ABB i-Bus EIB ABB i-bus EIB ABB … · ABB i-bus ® EIB ABB Powernet EIB ... 9 Functions of the panel software 2 - 11 ... Touch-sensitive display 320 x 240 pixels

Note:Using this function, it is possible toarm the installation even if an input isfaulty. The input is temporarilyremoved from the monitoredinstallation through theacknowledgement.

If the parameter “Delete failuremessage at external display” is set to“yes”, a so-called zero string is sent tothe object “Failure inputs” in the eventof a fault acknowledgement. Thismeans that a telegram is sent whoseuseful information consists of bitswith the value “0”. Display text on anexternal display is thus reset.

Arming (Monitoring function)

The installation can be armedinternally or externally. Internallymeans entering a four-digit PIN codedirectly on the panel. This is definedvia the setting “Code for arming/disarming”. The code can howeveralso be modified by the user. To doso, the old code must be enteredonce and the new code must beentered twice.

Note:Please note the setting “Overwritecode at download”. If “yes” isselected, the code which has beenmodified by the user is overwrittenwith the original code after eachreconfiguration of the panel.

The system can be armed externallyvia a maximum of three 1-bitcommunication objects “Arming ...”.Each object can be controlled via aseparate group address. This isnecessary if the system should bearmed from several entry doors. It isdefined via “Number of entry doors”whether one, two or three armingobjects are displayed.

The “Type of arming/disarming” isonly for information, in a similar wayto the inputs. The setting has noinfluence on the behaviour of thepanel.

When the system is armed, all the inputobjects must send the value “0” cycli-cally i.e. all the windows must be closedand the movement detectors cannotreport any movement. If the inputshould not send any “0” values cyclical-ly due to a fault, the panel can be ack-nowledged directly via the panel or via

the object “Failure reset inputs” of theinput i.e. removed from the monitoring. Itis then possible to arm the system.

Lock Arming

The system can be armed via the first“Arming” object, the second object orthe third. The inputs are linked with anOR function. In addition, an “Activatearming” object is enabled via acorresponding parameter. If the objectis visible, arming is enabled with anON telegram. An OFF telegramdisables the possibility of arming thesystem.

Once the panel has been armed, adelay period elapses until the panelis actually triggered by an inputsignal. The period is set via “Timedelay at arming”. If e.g. the panel islocated in the entrance area of ahouse, the user must still be giventhe opportunity to leave the housebefore the system is armed. If thisdelay did not exist, in many cases analarm would always be triggeredimmediately after arming the system.

Armed status (Monitoring function)

It is indicated via two 1-bitcommunication objects that thesystem is in the armed state. Theobject “Armed status” sends an ONtelegram as soon as the system isarmed (once the “Time delay atarming” has elapsed). If the system isdisarmed, the object sends an OFFtelegram. It would therefore bepossible e.g. for an LED of a switchsensor which is mounted at anentrance door to be switched.

The second object “Armed statusflashing” must first be enabled via thecorresponding parameter. A telegramsequence is then sent via this objectonce the system is armed so that e.g.an external lamp flashes three times. The user who has armed his housevia a key bolt contact is thereforeinformed before he reaches hishouse that the system is now set.Depending on the status of theactuator, six telegrams are sent withthe following useful information:

1 - 0 - 1 - 0 - 1 - 0 or0 - 1 - 0 - 1 - 0 - 1

Alarm (Monitoring function)

If an ON telegram is received at aninput in the armed state, the paneltriggers an alarm. There are fourdifferent alarm messages (objects).

Internal alarm:The internal alarm is triggeredimmediately and without a delay. AnON telegram is sent to the 1-bitcommunication object “Internalalarm”. This could trigger anadditional horn in the house or belinked with the alarm function of thepanel itself. In the latter case, amessage and if necessary a signaltone is displayed/triggered at thepanel itself.

AlarmThe alarm is a continuous alarm andis sent via the 1-bit communicationobject “Alarm” with a time delay. The“Time delay as long as alarmrelease” can be set. A warning lampfor example could be addressed viathis object.Example:A system has been armed directly onthe panel in the hallway. The usercomes home and automaticallytriggers an internal alarm. He nowhas the “Time delay as long as alarmrelease” to prevent an acoustic signale.g. an outdoor siren.

Alarm impulseThe 1-bit object “Alarm impulse” isused to address a horn in front of thehouse. In the event of an alarm, thismay only be triggered for maximum 3min (legal regulation). This meansthat an ON telegram is sent to theobject once the “Time delay as longas alarm release” has elapsed. Theperiod “Time of the external audiosignal” now starts. If this haselapsed, an OFF telegram is sent. The “Time of the external audiosignal” can be set to 1 min, 2 min or3 min.

Silent alarmThe silent alarm is retrieved byentering the PIN code for the silentalarm.Example:An intruder has entered the house inthe night and forces the owner tocancel the alarm. Normally, the ownerwould enter the PIN code todeactivate the system and the systemwould be disarmed. If he however en-

ters the PIN code for the silent alarm, the objects “Alarm”, “Internal alarm” and“Alarm impulse” are reset but the 1-bitcommunication object “Silent alarm”sends an ON telegram. A telephone di-alling device or similar could beaddressed via this object.

The PIN code for the silent alarm isdefined in the panel software in asimilar way to the PIN code forarming/disarming the system. Theuser can modify the PIN code, whereby he presses the touchsurface that is assigned themonitoring function and retrieves thefunction “Code for silent alarm” in thesubsequent window (only visible inthe disarmed state).

Input failure if armed(Monitoring function)

If an input failure occurs while thesystem is armed, this does not triggeran alarm. To inform the user aboutthis input failure, there is the 1-bitcommunication object “Inputs failureif armed”. In the event of faults, an ONtelegram is sent via this object.

Installation status (Monitoringfunction)

The new status is sent via the object“Installation status” as soon as thestatus of the panel changes. Theobject is 1 byte or 14 bytes dependingon the setting “Type of output”. Thesystem knows three different states:– Unset– Ready to set– Set

The diagram above shows anapplication example for themonitoring function of theSMARTtouch panel.

The states of the magnetic contactsMC1 to MC6 and the switch/key boltcontact of the entrance door are recor-ded with binary inputs or universal inter-faces and sent on the EIB. The detec-tors MD1 and MD2 are EIB movementdetectors and send their signals imme-diately on the bus.

The magnetic contacts and themovement detectors are linked viagroup addresses/actions with theinputs of the panel. The switch/keybolt contact with a group address isassigned to an arming object.

When the user leaves the house, hearms the system by locking up. If theexternal light is also controlled viaEIB, it can signal via the object“Armed status flashing” that thesystem is now armed. If the userdoes not receive a flashing status, heknows that there is a problem with theinstallation. A window is still openperhaps.

Functional description: Touchsurfaces (Control page)

Each touch surface can adopt variousfunctions. Depending on the setfunction, the panel software displaysdifferent communication objects andparameters.

The “Name of touch surface” isalways on the left-hand side of thetouch surface. This can be freelyassigned to each touch surface withthe corresponding parameter.

The status display is on the right-handside of the touch surface. This caneither be a symbol or text.

If this button is “Active”, a windowopens when the touch surface isoperated. The “Name of touchsurface” appears in the window as aheading. The buttons (designatedhere with “ON” and “OFF”) can bedescribed with text or adopt symbols.

As soon as a touch surface isoperated, the panel sends acorresponding telegram to the linkedcommunication object. In somewindows, a slide rule appears inaddition to the buttons. If the button onthe slide rule is set to a new position, the linked object also sends the newvalue automatically.

If the status display or the buttondescription should adopt a symbol, itcan be selected from a pull-downmenu. The panel software alwaysindicates all the context-related sym-bols. (See also the parameter listings ofthe individual functions)

Switch

If the function of the touch surface isdefined as “Switch”, the panel sendsON or OFF telegrams via theassociated 1-bit object “Switch”.

In the default setting, the touchsurface sends OFF telegrams whenthe right-hand side is pressed andsends ON telegrams when the left-hand side is pressed. The method ofoperation of the touch surface can beinverted via the parameter“Behaviour”.

Push button

In the “Push button” function, there isa 1-bit communication object “Switch”available for defined switching. ON,OFF or TOGGLE telegrams can besent on the EIB via this object.

Each pulse edge can therefore be setindividually. This means: if the touchsurface is pressed, this is evaluatedby the panel as a rising pulse edgewhile the release of the touch surfaceis evaluated as a falling pulse edge.

The touch surface can thus beadapted to a wide variety ofapplications. If e.g. inching modeshould be implemented, the setting“Send on at rising edge, off at fallingedge” should be selected.

Dimmer

With the “Dimmer” function, an ON orOFF command is sent to the 1-bitcommunication object “Switch” after ashort operation of the correspondingtouch surface. If the surface isoperated for a longer period, thepanel sends commands for dimmingbrighter or darker to the 4-bit object“Dim”. If the touch surface is releasedafter a long operation, the panelimmediately sends the command“Stop dimming”.

The behaviour of the buttons can beset. This means it is possible to dimbrighter or darker via the left or rightbutton (switch on, off or toggle).

The status display of the button canalso display the direct value(0%…100% or 0…255) as analternative to the text or symboldisplay. To do so, the 1-byte object ofthe touch surface must first be linkedwith that of the dimming actuator.

Shutter

In the “Shutter” function, the touchsurface has two 1-bit communicationobjects “Move” and “Step”. After a longoperation, the panel sends telegramsto the linked shutter actuators to raiseor lower the shutters. After a shortoperation, it sends telegrams to stopshutter movement or for louvreadjustment.

With the setting “Behaviour”, it isdefined whether the shutter movesupwards or downwards when theright or the left touch surface ispressed.

Lightscenes external input (1 bit)

In the function “Lightscenes externalinput (1 bit)”, the touch surface has a1-bit communication object. Twolightscenes can be sent via thisobject. On each operation of the pulseedge, the active lightscene changes(from 0 to 1, from 1 to 0).

Lightscenes external input (1 byte)

With the function “Lightscenesexternal input (1 byte)”, one of 32lightscenes can be sent via a 1-bytecommunication object. The setting“Lightscene number” defines whichlightscene is sent.

The user has the option of storinglightscenes himself. To do so, theparameter “Store scene by long push”must be set to “possible”. After a longoperation of the touch surface (> 3 s),a bit is additionally set to “1” in the 1-byte lightscene telegram. A lightscenemodule (generally the LEANtouch/SMARTtouch panel) therefore knowsthat the requested lightscene shouldbe stored and not retrieved. (See also“Functional description: Lightscenes”)

Value (1 byte, 2 byte)

The “Value” function causes the touchsurface to send value telegrams via theassociated “Value” object. Dependingon whether the function “Value (1 byte)”

or “Value (2 byte)” has been selected, the communication object is 1 byte or 2bytes in size.

The 1-byte value function can displayor send the following physicalvariables:– Brightness– Wetness (show only)– Volume– Value– Temperature offset– Current (show only)

The 2-byte value function has thefollowing variables by default:– Temperature– Illumination– Wind force

The respective physical variables aredefined via the parameter “Displaytype”. There is also the possibility ofsetting the “Display type” to “freescalable” for both values (1 byte and 2byte). Other values than the presetvalues can thus also be displayed.

With the freely scalable setting, it ispossible to parameterise the numberof decimal places, the minimum andmaximum object value and theminimum and maximum displayvalue.

If the touch surface is pressed (“showand send”), the panel indicates aslide rule in the open window. Theindividual values can be set via thisslide. A display in the upper section ofthe window indicates the exact value. The value is adjusted upwards ordownwards by the smallest possibleunit via the fields “On” or “Off”.

Room thermostat

If the function of the touch surface isdefined as “Room thermostat”, thetouch surface is used to control a roomthermostat in order to change operatingmode in the thermostat.

As the room thermostat touch surfaceis an active button, a window withthree further buttons “Comfort”,“Night” and “Frost” opens when it isoperated. Each of these three buttonshas a 1-bit communication object. The objects “Comfort/Standby”,“Night” and “Frost/heat protection” areeach linked via a group address withthe similarly named objects of a roomthermostat.

The linked room thermostat can bethe internal thermostat of the panel oran external device (e.g. Busch-triton®

RT).

Floating point value

With the “Floating value” function, atouch surface can display and/or senda value of -99,999 to +99,999. Thereis a 4-byte communication object“Floating point value” available for thisfunction.

If the “Floating value” touch surface ispressed, the panel displays a sliderule and three buttons in the openwindow. Values can be set intuitivelyvia the slide rule by adjusting thecontrol button. Depending on thesetting, the value can be increased ordecreased via the buttons. As soon asthe slide rule is released or a buttonhas been pressed, a new telegram

with the new floating point value is trig-gered.

The displayed or transmitted values canadopt up to three decimal places, de-pending on the setting. The default set-ting is a percentage value (0…100%).

The object value and the display valuecan be set separately in theparameters. The object value is thevalue which is sent via the 4-byte object“Floating point value”. The maximum orminimum object as well as the smallestor largest display value can be set indi-vidually (from-99,999 to +99,999). It is thereforepossible to display a larger value andto simultaneously limit thetransmitted value to a smaller range.

Counter

If a touch surface is assigned thefunction “Counter”, it is used toindicate counter contents. These canbe counts with and without leadingsigns. It depends on the setting“Display type” as to whether thedisplay has a leading sign.

Three different bit sizes can bedisplayed. It is defined directly via thefunctional selection whether a 1-byte,2-byte or a 4-byte count should bedisplayed. Depending on theselection, a 1-byte, 2-byte or a 4-bytecommunication object “Counter value”is available for receiving new countvalues.

Text

The “Text” function enables a 14-bytelong text element to be displayed onthe touch surface or sent. Thefunction has a 14-byte communicationobject “Text” for receiving and sendingtext.

It is defined via the “Text” setting in theparameters whether the text shouldonly be displayed or displayed andsent. If text should also be sent, thetext is defined in the field “Messagetext”. The text may be 13 characterslong.

Functional description: Timeprograms

Settings

Depending on the parameterisation, the SMARTtouch panel offers up to 20(5 for LEANtouch) switch channels. The number of channels that shouldbe enabled is defined in the generalsettings.

In addition, there is the possibility of“Enable time programs for endcustomers” via the correspondingparameter. The modification optioncan be given a code or fully disabled.

Changes made by the end customerare stored in the memory of the paneland are not lost on mains voltagefailure. If however changes are madeto the rest of the panel configurationand then programmed into the panel, the panel software overwrites bydefault the time settings of the endcustomer. This behaviour can bemodified via the setting “Overwritetime switch settings at download”.

A so-called astro function can also beactivated for the individual switchingtimes. This means that a setswitching time adapts itself tosunrises and sunsets. With the option“Town selection”, it is possible toselect a town in Germany which isclosest to the installation site of thepanel. If the exact coordinates areknown, the longitude and latitude canalso be entered.

Holiday

The LEANtouch/SMARTtouch panelhas the option of setting eachindividual channel to a so-calledholiday function. The setting “active onholidays” can be selected for eachswitching time on the switch channel.

Under the menu item “Extra” on thepanel, you can find the “Holiday” touchsurface which you use to activate theholiday function. Two further buttons“Start of holiday” and “End of holiday”are activated which you can use toenter the required date. If the date forthe “Start of holiday” is reached, all thecorresponding holiday time programsare activated automatically.

Individual time programs can thus beretrieved in the holiday period (holidayprofile). When the date for the “End ofholiday” is reached, the holiday timeprograms are automaticallydeactivated.

The holiday function is activated viathe 1-bit communication object“Holiday”. An ON telegram switchesthe function on while an OFF telegramswitches it off again. The linking of theobject “Holiday” with an internaladdress of the panel can of coursealso be carried out.

Note:Please note that only those switchchannels which you have explicitlyselected via the parameter “Switchingfunction” switch on and off in theholiday function. This is carried outseparately for each switching time onthe channel.

Switch channels

Each switch channel has at least one1-bit or 1-byte communication object. It is therefore possible for switch, shutter and/or dimming actuators tobe addressed. The bit size isdetermined via the setting “Function”.

Alternatively, it can also bedetermined via the “Function”parameter whether a room thermostatshould be addressed via a switchchannel. In this case, the switchchannel has two 1-bit objects“Standby/Comfort” and “Night”. It isthereby possible to directly toggle the“Comfort” and “Night” communicationobjects of the room thermostat. Thesecan either be internal objects of thepanel which are linked via an internalgroup address or an external roomthermostat. In the latter case, theobjects must be linked with acorresponding group address.

An additional 1-bit enable object canbe activated on each switch channel. This is carried out via the parameter“Activation object”. If an enable objectis activated, this must receive an ONtelegram so that the time switchchannel is able to switch.

The switch channels of theSMARTtouch panel have 10 (5 forLEANtouch) switching times each. The switching times can either be seton the panel (see diagram) or in theparameters of the panel software.

It can be defined on which day of theweek and at which switching time thechannel should be switched.

If a 1-bit function is set, it is possibleto switch either OFF/UP or ON/DOWN.If a 1-byte function is set, a valuebetween 0 and 255 or a percentagevalue of 0% to 100% can be sent. Theroom thermostat function makes itpossible to change to the comfort, standby or night operating mode ofthe room thermostat.

In addition, the astro functionality canbe activated for each channel.Blocking times can also be set suchas “not before 05:00” or “not after22:00”. The automatic adjustment ofthe astro programs are restricted dueto the position of the sun whichchanges daily. For example, a shutterwould never be lowered later than22:00, even if a further connectionwould be necessary according to theASTRO calender.

Diagram for setting the switchingtimes directly on the panel, if thisoption is enabled

In addition, there is the possibility ofintegrating each channel in theholiday functionality (see also“Holiday”)

Functional description: IR control General

The LEANtouch/SMARTtouch panelcan be addressed via IR remotecontrol. All the panel types operatetogether with the Busch-Ferncontrol®

IR hand-held transmitter. TheSMARTtouch B&O panel canalternatively also be controlled by theBang&Olufson remote control Beo4.

The receiving range of a panel can beset. The IR colours “white”, “blue” or“white & blue”. It is possible to switchbetween colours with the help of aslide switch directly on the Busch-Ferncontrol® hand-held transmitter. Ifthe IR range is set to “white & blue”,the panel software indicates theindividual push button pairs twice -once for the “white” IR range and afurther time for the “blue” IR range.

The parameter “Bang&Olufson” onlyoperates together with theSMARTtouch panel 6x36/100CB. If theIR range is set to “Bang&Olufson”, thepanel can either be operated via theBusch-Ferncontrol® IR hand-heldtransmitter or the Bang&Olufson Beo4IR remote control.

Push button assignment

The individual push button pairs ofthe Busch-Ferncontrol® IR hand-heldtransmitter or the Bang & Olufsonremote control Beo4 can be assignedthe following functions:– Switch,– Dimmer,– Shutter,– Push button,– Value– and Lightscene external input.

The memo buttons of the IR hand-held transmitter or the push buttonsgreen, orange, red, blue and stop ofthe Bang & Olufson remote controlBeo4 can be used for sendinglightscene numbers.

Switch

With the “Switch” function, a 1-bitcommunication object “Switch” isenabled for the push button pair.Switching telegrams are sent via thisobject to the linked actuators. Theparameter “Behaviour” defineswhether the right or the left pushbutton switches “ON”. The setting“TOGGLE” means that toggling is

always carried out when the right orleft push button is pressed i.e. thecommunication object adopts a newvalue after each operation.

Example:If the object currently has the value“1”, the object adopts the value “0”after an operation and sends it. If theobject has the value “0”, the objectvalue changes to “1” after anoperation. The value “1” is of coursealso sent out after a change.

Dimmer

If the function of a push button pair isdefined as a dimmer, the push buttonpair has two communication objects -a 1-bit object “Switch” for sendingswitching telegrams and a 4-bitobject “Dim” for sending dimmingtelegrams.

A switching telegram (ON or OFFtelegram) is always sent after a shortoperation. If a push button is operatedfor a long period (>0.5 s), a dimmingtelegram is triggered.

The parameter “Behaviour” defineswhether dimming brighter or darker iscarried out when the right or left pushbutton is pressed.

Shutter

The shutter functionality of a pushbutton pair causes a push button pairto send stop/step telegrams after ashort operation and up/downtelegrams after a long operation(>0.5 s) to linked shutter actuators.

The shutter function has two 1-bitcommunication objects - “Step” (stop/step) and “Move” (up/down).

The “Behaviour” parameter defineswhether the shutter is raised orlowered when the right or left pushbutton is pressed.

Push button

Via the “Push button” function, it ispossible to send telegrams when apush button of the pair is pressed, released or pressed and released. A1-bit communication object “Switchleft” or “Switch right” is available foreach push button of the pair.

Page 47: Product manual ABB i-Bus EIB ABB i-bus EIB ABB … · ABB i-bus ® EIB ABB Powernet EIB ... 9 Functions of the panel software 2 - 11 ... Touch-sensitive display 320 x 240 pixels

ABB i-bus® EIBABB Powernet EIB

The behaviour is defined via thecorresponding parameter. When thepush button is operated (on release),an ON, OFF or TOGGLE telegram canbe sent. “TOGGLE” means thattoggling is always carried out whenthe right or left push button isswitched i.e. the communicationobject adopts a new value after eachoperation.

Example:If the object currently has the value“1”, the object adopts the value “0”after an operation and sends it. If theobject has the value “0”, the objectvalue changes to “1” after anoperation. The value “1” is of coursealso sent out after a change.

Value

A value telegram can also betriggered with a push buttonoperation. To do so, the function mustbe set to “Value”. In this case, thepush button pair indicates a 1-bytecommunication object “Value” viawhich the value can be sent.

The parameters “Value push buttonleft” and “Value push button right”define which values should be sentwhen the right or left push button ispressed. Various values between “0”and “255” can be set for the right andleft push button.

Lightscene external input

The function “Lightscene externalinput” enables one of 32 lightscenesto be sent on each push button of thepair. The lightscenes are sent tolinked lightscene modules via a1-byte communication object“Lightscene number”. This can eitherbe the internal lightscenes which arestored in the panel or an externallightscene module.

The settings “Lightscene number left”and “Lightscene number right” definewhich lightscene number is sent.

By default, it is not possible to storelightscenes via the IR hand-heldtransmitter. This can be enabled viathe parameter “Save lightscenes”. Inthis case, the panel sends thelightscene number plus the saveinformation if a push button ispressed for longer than 3 s. Thismeans that an additional bit is set in

the lightscene telegram so that thelinked lightscene modules know thatthey must now query the currentstatus values of the actuators.

Lightscene number

If the “Lightscene number” function isused, only one push button e.g. M1 orM2 (no push button pair) is availablefor sending a lightscene. The functionenables the retrieval of one of 32lightscenes. The lightscenes are sentto linked lightscene modules via a1-byte communication object“Lightscene number”. These caneither be the internal lightsceneswhich are stored in the panel or anexternal lightscene module.

The setting “Lightscene number”defines which lightscene number issent.

Functional description: Roomthermostat

The LEANtouch/SMARTtouch panelhas an integrated room thermostat. This has a comparable functionality tothe usual EIB room thermostats.

Operating modes

The room thermostat function hasfour operating modes:– Frost protection mode:

The room temperature control is outof service; the room is only heated ifthe room temperature has fallen solow that there is a risk of the heatinginstallation freezing.

– Comfort mode:The setpoint for the roomtemperature is set to a value whichenables “normal use” of the room ata pleasant temperature.

– Standby mode:The room temperature is lowered(e.g. during temporary absence) sothat heating costs are saved but thecomfort temperature can bereached again quickly.

– Night mode:If the room is not used for anextensive period during the night;

the room temperature is lowered toa pleasant night temperature andcan be increased again relativelyquickly in the morning.

It is possible to toggle betweent theseoperating modes through switchingtelegrams to the communicationobjects “Frost protection”, “Night” and“Comfort” or via the panel display(see also the diagram of theoperating modes). The frost/heatprotection has the highest priority i.e.it is not possible to switch to anotheroperating mode in this case. To doso, the frost/heat protection modemust first be deactivated e.g. byclosing an open window. Comfortmode has the next highest priorityfollowed by night mode. If none of thethree operating modes is active, theroom thermostat is in standby mode.

Party time (Comfort extension)

If the panel is switched to night modevia the bus (or internally), the partytime can be activated via the paneldisplay (change to comfort mode, seediagram top left). Once the party timehas elapsed, the thermostat switchesback to night mode.

During the party time, the symbols fornight and party are shown together inthe display. By pressing the partybutton again, the party time can bereset manually to night reduction.

This function can also be used for thetemporary deactivation of the heat andfrost protection. As in night mode, it ispossible to switch to comfort modefor the parameterised period. Thefunction is switched on and off in thesame way. The symbols for frostprotection and party are showntogether in the display during thiscomfort extension.

If the party time is inactive, the first but-ton with comfort/standby toggling alsodirectly operates the comfort object. It istherefore possible to set the operatingmode directly to comfort mode while innight mode. When the frost or heat pro-tection mode is active, toggling via thefirst button is stored in the comfort ob-ject.

The recording of the actualtemperature is normally carried out bya built-in temperature sensor. It isalso possible to switch to an externalmeasurement with the parameter“Actual value survey”. Temperaturevalues which are received via theobject “Actual temperature” can thusbe used for control purposes. If nonew values are received for 30 min,the thermostat suspends its functionand no more control value telegramsare sent.

Setpoint values

The following setpoint values can beset for heating mode: “Base setpointin °C (16..31) (Comfort temperatureheating)”, “Lowering standbyoperation heating ... (1..15)”,“Lowering night operation heating inK (1..15)” and “Setpoint frostprotection in °C (4..10)”.

For cooling mode, the comforttemperature can be set via the “Deadzone between heating and cooling inK (1…8)”. The setpoint adjustmentsfor standby and night mode refer tothis value: “Increasing standbyoperation cooling” and “Increasingnight operation cooling”.

If e.g. a room should be cooled at25°C in comfort mode with a basesetpoint of 22°C, a dead zone of 3°Cmust be set. If it should now becooled at 27°C in standby mode, thevalue must be increased by 2°K.Cooling in night mode from 29°Crequires an increase in this value of4°K.

To protect against uncontrolledoverheating of rooms, it is possible toassign a setpoint for heat protectionafter which cooling takes place. If heatprotection is not required, cooling canbe switched off.

The base setpoint can be modified asoften as necessary via the bus. To doso, a 2-byte temperature value mustbe sent to the object “Base setpoint”.

The setpoint temperature can bechanged manually via the rockerbuttons on the panel display. Theparameters “Area for manual setpointsetting”, “Maximum increasing ofsetpoint at heating” and “Maximumlowering of control value at cooling”determine the scope for modifying thesetpoint. If a new telegram is sent tothe communication object “Basesetpoint” after a manual setpointadjustment, the manual setpointadjustment can also be reversed.

Heating/cooling

To be able to address the variouscontroller types for heating or coolingmode, the room thermostat can beparameterised as a continuous orswitching controller. In the case of aswitching controller, it is possible tochoose between a PWM controller (“PIcontroller”) and a “Two-positioncontroller”.

In the case of a continuous controlresponse and a switching PWMcontroller, the preset controlparameters regarding the installationtype of the heating or air conditioningsystem can be used. If other controlparameters are needed, they can beset individually via the freeparameterisation option. This optionshould only be used if the user hassufficient experience in controltechnology.

The continuous controller sends its con-trol value to a 1-byte object. Electromo-tive or electrothermal drives which areconnected to heating actuators withPWM control can thus be controlled.

To prevent unnecessary bus loads, itis possible to set by how much thecontrol value must change in order tobe sent on the bus. The setting iscarried out as a percentage. Thesending of the control value is presetby a cyclic period, provided it has notbeen modified. This cycle time shouldnot be set too low (e.g. every 10 min).

In the case of a switching PWMcontroller, the output value of thecontroller (0...255) is converted intoan ON/OFF ratio. If e.g. a control valueof 70% should be issued, the ON timeis 7 min and the OFF time is 3 min ata preset cycle time of 10 min. Thedynamic range can also be limited inthe same way as a continuouscontroller. The parameters “PWMcycle is 0% up to control value” and“PWM cycle is 100% up to controlvalue” are used for this purpose. Ife.g. a maximum control value of 80%is set, the controller automaticallysends the value 255 when a controlvalue of 204 is exceeded. (See alsothe diagram below)

To optimise the control characteristicsof the heating or cooling system, the“Cycle time of the control value” canbe set. To set the correct cycle time, the type of heating or cooling as wellas the valve drive used should betaken into account. The following re-commendations can be used:

LEANtouch (monochrome),SMARTtouch (monochrome, colour)Type: 6x36/30M(-500), 6x36/100x(-500), 6x36/100CB

a)Electrothermal valve drive:To fully open an electrothermal valvedrive takes approx. 2-3 minutes. Ashorter cycle time than 15 minutesis therefore not advisable.

b)Floor heating:The time constant of a floor heatingsystem is very high. A cycle time of20 minutes is therefore sufficient.

c)Warm water heating:Electrothermal drives are frequentlyused here. A cycle time of 15minutes produces very goodresults.

d)Electric fan heating:Cycle times between 10 and 15minutes are recommended, depending on the electric heatingand spatial conditions.

If a two-position controller is used forheating or cooling control, it ispossible to select the hysteresis bywhich the setpoint fluctuates. If e.g.the setpoint in heating mode is 20°Cand the hysteresis is 0.5 K, thecontroller switches on at 19.75°C andswitches off again at 20.25°C. Thehysteresis that is set then dependson how quickly the heating can heatup the room or how quickly thecooling cools down the room as wellas how sensitive the customer is totemperatures. The hysteresis shouldnot be set too low as otherwise thevalve drive continually opens andcloses. The hysteresis shouldhowever not be set too high as thetemperature fluctuations in the roomare then relatively high.

To increase the accuracy of thecontrol, the parameter “Lowering ofhysteresis” is used. If this parameteris active the hysteresis is reducede.g. every minute by 0.1 K, if requireduntil 0 K. The temperature fluctuationsare effectively reduced during thecontrol by the lowered hysteresis. If areduction should be used, it isadvisable to select a reduction that isless than one fifth of the hysteresis.e.g. Hysteresis 0.5 K =>

Reduction < 0.1 K/min

In certain cases (floor heating), it maybe necessary to install a fast-actingadditional system to enable you toheat the room up quickly. If the“Additional heating” is active, thepanel has a second heating systemavailable with a switching control(1 bit) or a quasi continuous controlwhich regulates the heating with the 1-byte values 0% and 100%.

With the parameters “Level distancefrom the base level to the additionallevel in K” and “Hysteresis (one-sided)”, it is determined when theadditional level is switched on andwhen it is switched off. If e.g. thesetpoint for the second heating levelis set at 18°C with a hysteresis at0.5 K (one-sided), the thermostatswitches on at 18°C and switches offat 18.5°C.

As some valve drives close at a 1-bytevalue of 255 or a 1-bit value of 1 andopen at the corresponding invertedvalues, the “Effective mode” can beinverted.

The toggling between heating andcooling is carried out automatically bythe room thermostat. If this is notrequired, the “Toggle between heatingand cooling” can be carried out by anexternal, central control via the 1-bitobject “Toggle heating cooling”. In thissetting, the heating or coolingsymbols are permanently visibleduring the corresponding operatingmode. If an ON telegram is receivedat the operating mode object, theheating mode is switched on. If anOFF telegram is received, the coolingmode is switched on.

Automatic shading

To prevent the room warming up dueto sunlight, automatic shading can becarried out by lowering one or severalblinds. The object “Shading” is usedfor this purpose.

The parameter “Shading setpoint”determines at which temperature theblinds should be lowered.

If the temperature falls below the setshading temperature, no commandsfor lowering the blinds are sent. Theblinds could be raised at a specifictime e.g. with a central command.

Group master mode

In rooms such as large open-plan of-fices, it can be difficult to achieve effec-tive control throughout the room withonly one panel operating as a roomthermostat. In such cases, it is advisab-le to divide the room into several zonesin which one room thermostat is usedper zone. So that these room thermos-tats always use the same setpoint, the-

If the measured temperature iscorrupted by the self-heating of thepanel, an offset value can be set forthe room temperature measurement(setting “Offset value in K x 0.1 K”).

The installation site of the panel andthe appropriate selection ofparameter settings is decisive in theaccurate recording of temperatures.

Functional description: LightscenesGeneral settings

General

The LEANtouch/SMARTtouch panelcan be used to send and savelightscenes. Up to 20 EIB actuatorscan be addressed via the memocommunication objects. The numberof memo objects available to thepanel is dependent on the type usedand on the setting “Number of objectsper lightscene”. This can be amaximum of 20 (6 for LEANtouch)objects.

The 1-byte communication object“Lightscene number” is used forretrieving lightscenes. The panelreceives one of 32 lightscene numbersat this object. These lightscenenumbers can be retrieved internally inthe panel e.g. via a touch surface withthe appropriate settings or externally viaan EIB switch sensor.

If the panel receives a lightscenetelegram at its memo objects, it willsend switching or value telegrams insequence to linked actuators. The“Telegram rate between two lightscenetelegrams” can be set. In the Powernetversion, this should not be set too lowas otherwise the bus load isexcessively increased. The preset valueof “1 s” should be sufficient and shouldbe changed if necessary. In theTwisted Pair variant, the telegram rateis not critical and can be lowered ifnecessary.

Lightscene

The size of the memo communicationobjects can be adapted to switch, dimming or shutter actuators. Thismeans that if a switch or shutteractuator should be addressed via amemo object, the object is 1 bit. If adimming actuator should beaddressed, the object is 1 byte. Thebit size is defined individually for eachmemo object via the parameter“Actuator type”.

The LEANtouch/SMARTtouch panelsoftware displays various optionsdepending on the selection.

With the selection “Switch or shutteractuator”, it is possible to set “Off/Up”or “On/Down”. Alternatively, anactuator can also be “Inactive” withina scene.

If “Dim actuator” is set as the actuatortype, percentage values of 0% to100% can be set in increments of10%.

Saving lightscenes

If the end customer would like to carryout changes to the predefinedlightscenes, he can do this without anygreat effort. He must first set all thelamps and/or shutters to the requiredposition i.e. he dims or moves theindividual components via separate EIBswitch sensors or via the touch surfacesof the panel. He then triggers alightscene storage telegram with a longoperation (> 3 s) of a lightscene touchsurface or an additional lightsceneswitch sensor. This telegram isreceived at the object “Lightscenenumber”. The individual memo objectsnow send read requests to the linkedEIB actuators. If the read flag is set forthese objects, the actuators send backtheir current values in responsetelegrams. These values are stored inthe panel and are not lost in the eventof a bus voltage failure.

If changes are carried out on theLEANtouch/SMARTtouch panel andthen programmed in the panel, lightscenes that have been stored byend customers are likewise not lost bydefault. This behaviour can also bemodified via the parameter “Overwritelightscene settings at download”. All thelightscenes can thus be reset to thepreset options which were carried outwith the panel software.

Functional description: Alarmfunction

The panel offers the possibility ofdisplaying up to 10 different alarmmessages. The parameter “Numberof alarm messages” defines therequired number.

Each alarm message has its owncommunication object “Alarm 1” to“Alarm 10”. The communicationobjects can either be 1 bit or 14 byte. The setting “Type of the alarm object”sets the size of the object. Each alarmobject can thus be set individually.

The alarm function can be used incombination with the inputs of themonitoring function (see page 18) oron its own. In combination with themonitoring function, the inputs andthe alarm objects must be linked viainternal group addresses.

If a telegram e.g. an ON telegram isreceived at an alarm object, a windowis opened in the screen of the panel,in which the alarm text is displayed. The alarm text can be freely entered inthe panel software. The panelsimultaneously triggers a signal tone. The duration of the signal tone can beset and it can also be deactivated.

All alarm messages which occur orhave occurred can be displayed via afurther window in the panel. Thewindow is opened by pressing the“Extras” button followed by “Alarmmessages/Fault messages”. Allalarm and fault messages aredisplayed with the date, time andacknowledgement.

The acknowledgement of an alarmmessage is carried out via the “OK”button in the alarm text window. If thesetting “Send zero at acknowledge”has been activated with “yes” for a1-bit alarm object, the group addressthat is linked with the alarm object issent on the bus with the value “0”.

In the case of a 14-byte alarm object,an individual acknowledgement text(max. 13 characters) can be sent withthe acknowledgement.

Via the acknowledgement object“Acknowledge global”, a groupaddress is sent as soon as anacknowledgement has been carriedout at one of the alarm objects.

Parameters: Presence simulationThe default setting of the valuesis printed in bold type.

The panel has an integratedpresence simulation function. Thismeans that the panel can send outtelegrams fully independently andconveys the impression that thehouse is occupied.

If the presence simulation function isactivated, the panel software displays10 x 1-bit communication objects“Simulation 1” to “Simulation 10” forcontrolling switch and/or shutteractuators and a 1-bit communicationobject “Activation” for the activation ordeactivation of the presencesimulation.

The presence simulation is activatedwith an ON telegram at the “Activation”object. An OFF telegram deactivates itagain.

If the presence simulation is notactive (OFF telegram has beenreceived at the activation object), itportrays “normal” telegram traffic. Thepanel learns the habits of theoccupants of the house. The panelhas a memory which recordstelegrams for seven days. On theeighth day, the memory location of thefirst of the seven days is overwritten.

If the panel only had three days tocarry out a recording, only these threedays are repeated when the functionis activated.

The panel ignores cyclicaltransmitters during the recording. This means it only records an actualchange.

Once an ON telegram has beenreceived at the “Activation” object, thepanel first waits until the “Waiting timeup to the activation” has elapsed. Onlythen does the simulation start. Thedelay can be set between 30 s and2 min.

The activated presence simulationsends the information that has beenrecorded over several days on a 1:1basis.

It is a good idea to integrate functionsin the presence simulation which arenot linked with a holiday function of atime channel. This could be e.g. thelounge light, the kitchen light andabove all the hallway light.

A: Output

Up to 8 different logic functions canbe integrated in the panel. Each logicfunction can adopt one of thefollowing functions:– AND– OR– NAND– NOR– Multiplexer– Multiplier– Gate– Temperature comparator 1I1O– Temperature comparator 2I1O

AND, OR, NAND and NOR

If the function is defined with AND,OR, NAND or NOR, up to four inputcommunication objects can beenabled per logic function. The size ofthe inputs can either be 1 bit or 1 byte. When a new telegram is received atthe input, it is switched according tothe selected function. In addition, theinputs can be inverted together.

Example of “AND” 1-byte inputs:If the inputs are 1 byte, all the inputvalues must be greater than “0” inorder to achieve a positive result.

Example of inverted “AND” 1-byteinputs:If the inputs are 1 byte and inverted, all the input values must be equal to“0” in order to achieve a positiveresult.

Each function has an output object towhich the result determined from theinputs is sent. The output object canbe 1 bit or 1 byte, depending on theparameterisation. The default valuewhich should be sent in the event of apositive result can be set. In addition,a delay for sending the output signalcan also be selected.

It is also possible to set an output filter. This means that either only “On”, only“Off” or “On and Off” can be sent for a1-bit output object. With a 1-byte outputobject, it can be set whether “only thegiven value”, “only Off” or “only the gi-ven value and Off” should be sent.

So that the inputs are not undefinedafter a voltage failure and subsequentvoltage recovery, there is theparameter “Behaviour of inputs afterreset”. The inputs can either be readi.e. send read requests to the linkedobjects which leads to an increasedbus load or the inputs can adoptdefault values which can be definedin the parameters.

A

Via the “Multiplexer” logic function, theinput data to the output can becontrolled directly. The function hasfour communication objects“Controller”, “Input 1”, “Input 2” and“Output”. The diagram aboveindicates the function of a 1-bitmultiplexer (S=Controller, E1=Input 1,E2=Input 2, A= Output).

The bit size of the inputs and outputscan be set to 1 byte or 2 byte via theparameter “Object type input/output”.The above functionality is therebyretained. That means that only input 1is visible at the output if the controlinput has the value “1”. Input 2 isswitched to the output as soon as thecontrol input has the value “0”.

Note:The output is only sent when there isan actual change of the inputs. If e.g.the control input changes without theinput value changing, the outputsignal remains as it is. A new outputvalue is sent only if an input signalchanges.

Multiplier

The “Multiplier” function enables up tofour output telegrams to be sent with aninput telegram. The input communicationobject is 1 bit. The output communicati-on objects can either be 1 bit or 1 byte.

The size is set via a corresponding pa-rameter.

It can be defined via the setting“Starting conditions” whether aduplication of an input telegramshould be triggered after an ON orOFF telegram. Moreover, there is thepossibility of sending outputtelegrams with a time delay. Bydefault, a delay of 1 s is defined.

The useful information (values) whichshould be sent with the outputtelegrams can be set individually foreach output via a correspondingparameter. For 1-bit outputs, this is“On” or “Off” while for 1-byte outputs, values between “0” and “255” can beassigned.

Gate

With the “Gate” logic function, it ispossible to filter specific signals andto disable the signal flow temporarily. The function has threecommunication objects “Controlinput”, “Input” and “Output”.

The control input is 1 bit and the inputand output objects are likewise 1 bitby default. The object types at theinput and output can also be set to“not assigned”. That means that thebit size can be freely assigned. Thefirst internal or external groupaddress which is assigned and isalready linked with anothercommunication object defines thesize.

The control is always carried out frominput to output provided that this ispermitted by the control input. Theactivation via the control input can becarried out via an ON or an OFFtelegram. If the setting “Control input”is set to “ON telegram” for example, only telegrams from the input to theoutput are routed if a “1” haspreviously been received at thecontrol input.

For 1-bit input and output objects, it canbe set whether the input signals shouldbe saved or not “During the blocking”. Ifthe setting “Store input signal” is se-lected, the output sends its value if atelegram has been received at the inputduring the blocking.

If the input and output objects are1 bit, it is possible to invert the output. An inversion element can therefore beimplemented by a gate.

It is also possible to block signals viathe “Filter function” setting. Thefollowing settings are possible: “Filternothing”, “Filter ON” or “Filter OFF”.This function is e.g. only necessary ifthe ON telegram from a sensor is ofinterest and this sensor does nothave a filter function in its applicationprogram.

Temperature comparator

The two temperature comparatorfunctions correspond to the functionsof the DIN rail mounted logic module.

Temperature comparator 1I1O

With the function “Temperaturecomparator 1I1O”, a temperature iscompared with an internally definedtemperature value. The functionmakes an input available with a2-byte communication object.Temperature telegrams which aretriggered by an EIB temperaturesensor are received at this object andcompared.

The value which the temperature atinput 1 should be compared with, isdefined in the parameter“Comparative value in °C”. Thiscomparative value (input 2) can adoptvalues between –30 °C and +70 °C.

Application example:Monitoring of a warehouse. Foodshould be stored in the warehouse ata temperature below 12 °C. An EIBtemperature sensor is installed forthis purpose. If the storagetemperature exceeds 12 °C, a coolingunit is switched on in order to keepthe food fresh.

So that telegrams are not triggeredcontinually, if the temperature values forcomparison are almost identical, it isadvisable to set a hysteresis. By default, this is set at 1.5 K. This means that if thetemperature of the comparative value hasa value of 12 °C and the temperature atthe input exceeds a value of 12 °C, a te-legram is not immediately triggered at theoutput. It is only triggered when it exceeds12.75 °C. The output is reset when a tem-perature falls below 11.25 °C.

The output communication object is1 bit by default. ON or OFF telegramsare sent to this object. It is defined inthe parameters when a telegram issent. Depending on the setting“Telegram will be sent at”, telegramsare triggered if an input is greaterthan another input or if the resultchanges. A change in the resultmeans that the value of the input hasexceeded or fallen below thecomparative value.

In addition, it can be set whether anON telegram or an OFF telegram issent when the value exceeds or fallsbelow the comparative value.

1-byte values can also be sent to theoutput object. To do so, the parameter“Object type of the output” must be setto “1 byte”. In a similar way to theswitch output, different conditions canalso be set to determine when atelegram should be sent. The valuewhich is sent is defined with thesettings “It will be sent if input >comparative value” or “…if input <comparative value”. Values between 0and 255 can be sent.

The output value is sent cyclically ifthe setting “Send output cycle” isactivated. The cycle time is set bydefault at 9:59 but can be adapted toa required cycle time.

Temperature comparator 2I1O

Two temperatures can be comparedwith this function. There are twoseparate inputs available with 2-bytecommunication objects. Temperaturetelegrams which are triggered by EIBtemperature sensors are received atthese objects and compared witheach other.

Application example:Summer/wintertime conversion in aventilation control system. An EIBtemperature sensor is installed in thesupply air and discharge air ducts. Ifthe incoming temperature is identicalto or warmer than the outgoing tempera-ture, it is possible to switch to summermode.

The output communication object is1 bit by default. ON or OFF telegramsare sent to this object. It is defined in theparameters when a telegram is sent.Depending on the setting “Telegram will

be sent at”, telegrams are triggered if aninput is greater than another input or ifthe result changes. A change in the re-sult means that the value of input 1 hasexceeded or fallen below the value ofinput 2.

In addition, it can be set whether anON telegram or an OFF telegram issent when the value of one inputexceeds or falls below the value of theother input.

1-byte values can also be sent to theoutput object. To do so, the parameter“Object type of the output” must be setto “1 byte”. In a similar way to theswitch output, different conditions canalso be set to determine when atelegram should be sent. The valuewhich is sent is defined with thesettings “It will be sent if input 1 >input 2” or “…if input 1 < input 2”.Values between 0 and 255 can besent.

The output value is sent cyclically if thesetting “Send output cycle” is activated. The cycle time is set by default at 9:59but can be adapted to a required cycletime.
