‘Green Energy’ is the pioneering design harnessing human kinetic energy and converting it to electricity to create a self-illuminating or grid-tied outdoor gym. The cardio gym pieces can collaborate as a system to illuminate the gym, supply electricity or standalone as individual USB charging stations by using the integrated ‘Energy Console’.

The ‘Energy Display Unit’ (EDU) is an Ingress Protected (IP55) electrical cabinet and is necessary for the The Great Outdoor Gym energy systems to function. It is maintenance accessible, but secure against vandalism, and includes an interactive interface and instructional signage to engage its users.

This leg press platen was the solution to integrating the favoured leg press in the multi gym product range. The brief required this new product to enable comfortable use of the leg press, whilst keeping within the constraints of budget and outdoor gym safety standards, (BSI) PAS888 and EN1176..

The large and medium anchor design were required in light of the new energy range. The original large anchor tapered inwards, allowing incorrect installation and resulting in the product toppling over. These new anchors were stackable, more cost viable to manufacture and deliver, whilst being easier and safer to install.

The new Blackfen micropub, The Broken Drum, required a logo and brand for its opening. The solution took the form of an old military snare drum, ‘broken’ by an exaggerated tear. It’s simplicity makes it tangible, adopting typography of an old English genre. The chosen colour scheme were chosen for its resemblance to a pint of ale..

The Galapagos Conservation Trust (GCT) charity required the design of their 2015 Annual Report. The annual report had to be engaging to its readers and delivered in a print ready format. The answer to this brief explored the use of infographics and typography techniques, whilst keeping within the charities branding.

Japanese, natural, foldable, collectable and sexy; five words inspiring the design of this convenient and elegant, kitchen utensil. These ‘Inspired’ kitchen scales use a collection of natural materials, capturing an oriental and sleek character within its form.

Bringing a concept to life takes, commitment, resources and time, but more importantly passion and belief in the product. Shown across this spread are a variety of sketches showing further development and thought processes surrounding the Inspired Kitchen Scales concept.

This packaging design was short-listed in a Marks & Spencer’s ‘Plan A’ environmental competition. By manipulating the existing ‘salad-to-go’ packaging profile, a 50% greater transport and 33% increase shelf display capacity was achieved. The design introduced colour coding within its graphics to enhance customer selection experience.
