Along with high acoustic output, the FM599 offers exceptional directivity vs. frequency behavior and studio monitor quality sound. The result of an intimate familiarity with the problems and requirements of stage monitoring, the design of the FM599 offers dramatic advantages over all previously available alternatives. Optimized Directivity The Frazier FM599 is unique in its use of optimally-shaped horns for both low and high frequency sections. Both horns incorporate a new multitransitional shape that eliminates high-frequency beaming. This horn shape causes no off-axis droop at the upper ends of the horns' bandwiths. Because of the broad directivity and uncompromised off-axis response, it is not necessary to stand directly in front of the FM599 to receive the full benefit of its remarkable performance. Multiple performers can use a single FM599 monitor with excellent results. Coincident Aligned Transducers TM As with all Frazier coincident loudspeakers, low and high frequency sections of the FM599 behave acoustically as a single device, resulting in a crossover transition that is seamless at any angle. Additionally, this proprietary technology enables the FM599 to accurately transmit complex signals. The result? Performers will be able to hear themselves and everything else in the monitor mix at lower sound pressure levels than with other monitors. This in turn will reduce problems with feedback and off-stage bleed, creating a much cleaner and more controllable mix for performers and audience alike. With the FM599, Frazier takes stage monitor design into the 21st century.

Advancing the State of the Art

The Frazier FM599 is the industry's first high-output floor monitor to be free of majorshortcomings in electroacoustic performance.Along with high acoustic output, the FM599offers exceptional directivity vs. frequencybehavior and studio monitor quality sound. The result of an intimate familiarity with theproblems and requirements of stagemonitoring, the design of the FM599 offersdramatic advantages over all previouslyavailable alternatives.

Optimized Directivity

The Frazier FM599 is unique in its use ofoptimally-shaped horns for both low and highfrequency sections. Both horns incorporate anew multitransitional shape that eliminateshigh-frequency beaming. This horn shapecauses no off-axis droop at the upper ends ofthe horns' bandwiths. Because of the broaddirectivity and uncompromised off-axisresponse, it is not necessary to stand directlyin front of the FM599 to receive the full benefitof its remarkable performance. Multipleperformers can use a single FM599 monitorwith excellent results.

Coincident Aligned TransducersTM

As with all Frazier coincident loudspeakers, lowand high frequency sections of the FM599behave acoustically as a single device, resultingin a crossover transition that is seamless at anyangle. Additionally, this proprietary technologyenables the FM599 to accurately transmitcomplex signals.

The result? Performers will be able to hearthemselves and everything else in the monitormix at lower sound pressure levels than withother monitors. This in turn will reduce problemswith feedback and off-stage bleed, creating amuch cleaner and more controllable mix forperformers and audience alike.

With the FM599, Frazier takes stage monitordesign into the 21st century.

Power Considerations - The power rating used for the F599 is derived asspecified by the AES (AES2-1984). A pink noise signal is clipped to a 2:1(6dB) peak/RMS ratio and filtered with with low and high pass filters matchedto the device bandwidth. This signal is applied to the loudspeaker for a 2 hourperiod. All appropriate parameters are checked after this exercise to ensureproper performance. The power rating is set as the upper limit of safeoperation and is determined by evaluating the RMS voltage applied during thetest and the nominal impedance of the loudspeaker. Thus, the power rating =V2rms/Znom. This test is run on several production units as a final validationof the rating.

ARCHITECTS' and ENGINEERS' SPECIFICATIONThe loudspeaker shall be a two way coaxial system. The lowfrequency section shall consist of one 10" (254 mm) wooferdriving a conic directivity horn. The high frequency sectionshall consist of a conic directivity horn driven by a 1" (25mm)throat, ferrofluid cooled, compression driver. Low and highfrequency signal arrivals shall be in temporal alignment through-out the coverage pattern without the use of any device externalto the loudspeaker. An included passive network shall provideelement-specific signal treatment and crossover filtering. Thesystem amplitude response shall be within plus or minus 3.5 dBof flat from 140 Hz to 15 kHz on axis. Octave averaged coverageangles (-6 dB relative to on axis levels) shall be 118º conic(+18º/-18º) from 500 Hz-16kHz. The loudspeaker shall becapable of producing 124dB continuous SPL at a distance of 1meter with no more than 250 watts electrical input power.Maximum weight shall be 55 lbs. (25kg) and maximum dimen-sions shall be 17 5/8" x 17 5/8" x 14 1/2"" depth (448mm x448mm x 368mm). The loudspeaker shall be the Frazier FM599.
